So today was Not A Great Day... this means, on the sliding scale that life with a chronic illness and mental health issues is, it was slightly better than A Bad Day, but worse than A Good Day. I’m still in pain from my Botox in my bladder, so physically today wasn’t great. But mostly today I was plagued by my mental health demons. There was a thing that made me very sad and angry, and I didn’t feel like talking to anyone about it. Anyway, what this post is about is giving yourself a break, and applauding what you do manage to achieve on a Bad or Not So Great Day. Okay, so I didn’t cross all the things off my To Do list... but I crossed some of them off! And that’s great! One of my worst mental health habits is setting really unattainable goals for myself, then beating myself up for not achieving them. I’m still learning not to do that, but I’m getting better. So today, I managed to unpack and put away all my medical kit that was delivered. I potted up my weekly meds. I had a pamper session and did my nails/exfoliated/did a hair and face mask/shaved. I did some work/writing. I messaged and rang several friends. And I made it to my guitar lessons! Okay, so I wasn’t dressed until 5pm, and I didn’t make it to Asda’s, and I did don’t do all the work/writing I wanted to... but I still did stuff! And that’s good 👍🏻 Don’t beat yourself up, please. I mean, don’t be afraid to give yourself a kick up the arse, either... but set realistic goals, and celebrate achieving them. #neverforgethowwildlycapableyouare #bekindtoyourself💜 #mentalhealthwarrior #setrealisticgoals #celebrateyourachievements https://www.instagram.com/p/BoIR-GHhBWH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fkx208eobqb
