2016 - Year of the Comeback (for me at least)
There is a fitblr image that has made the rounds for awhile. It reads simply, “Turn your setbacks into comebacks”.
For the benefit of anyone who might not have read my earlier posts, just before Christmas 2015 I was crossing a parking lot not far from where I live when a car struck me in my left leg. Then in March of this year I got robbed, amd in the course of the robbery the thief knocked me over with his car and ran over my left leg. (That durn left leg is bad luck! Maybe I should have it removed or something...) Both of those injuries put a severe crimp on my exercise goals; in fact, the fink doctor who examined me after the xecond run-in actually wrote “No more riding the bicycle until after follow-up examination” (Some people, I swear.)
Since getting the green light to get back on my two wheels I have been working my way back. I learned the trruth of the saying, “You use it or you lose it” all too well as I discovered my riding stamina and the weights I could lift at the gym both went way down in my off time And my weight went up a lot higher than it was pre-injury. But after a good day at the gym yesterday, and a weigh-in this morning at 228.6, I can confidently say my comeback is in full gear. I may not be back to where I was in November, but I am definitely on my way!
Setback. Need Comeback.
So...this has been a bad week, guys. Like, a really really really bad week. I blame midterms in part, but mostly I blame myself for just being straight up apathetic about eating healthy/working out. Ugh. Why, Leila, whyyyyyyyyyy.
There's also this boy situation that's...I don't even know.
But here's what we're going to do about this: setbacks into comebacks.
In some ways, I wonder if maybe I needed a really really bad week to kick me back into gear. Failure is a different kind of motivation, but it is motivation nonetheless. Today, I'm going to go to the gym, and I'm going to eat *healthy* foods (as opposed to just eating within my points...though that's something else I'm going to do). Time to get back on the wagon.
