Hi there! Iâm not dead, and Iâm gonna eventually finish this fic, I promise. And hereâs an update! A bit different from the last ones and thatâll be obvious when you read it. And I am so so so sorry for the wait on this, I hated everything I tried to I just kept deleting and starting over until I did this. I hope you enjoy!
âYou mean he hasnât said anything? About me? About us?â Romanâs desperate voice could be heard through the phone. His need for answers clear to Patton.
Hearing his friend like this broke his heart, he wanted nothing more than to fix this; to stop the shaking in Romanâs voice, to erase the cracking he heard as Roman pushed back the tears that desperately wanted to fall.
âRoman heâs hardly talked to me since coming home.â Patton ran a hand through his hair. âLo and I were at his place when he came in, he said hello and thank you to us before basically shoving us out the door. I havenât seen or heard anything from him since.â
Patton heard Romanâs sharp intake of breath, he knew that the tears were falling and there was nothing he could do to stop it; nothing he could do to stop the pain that his friend was feeling. Knowing that hurt Patton more than anything else.
âRo, just give him time. Heâll come around.â Pattonâs words were hardly above a whisper, quiet and soothing in hopes of comforting his friend from hundreds of miles away.
âTime?â Romanâs voice came out like a bark, sudden and loud. Patton had to pull the phone away due to the volume before bringing it close to hear Roman again. âPatton Iâve given him two weeks already. Iâve messaged him, Iâve tried calling him; Iâve given him space to come to me and Iâve gotten nothing.â Romanâs words were coming faster and faster as he spoke, it seemed as if everything that had been bottled up for these last two weeks was finally exploding out of him and all Patton could do was listen.
âIs this just a sign? A message from some all powerful creator that everything we shared during the time he was here; all the nights together and all the dates and all the promises, weâre nothing? Were they meaningless to him? Was I meaningless to him? Just someone to have a good time with because he was here and then he could just throw me away when he left.â
âYou stop that right now!â Patton spat out suddenly. He heard Romanâs words die on the other end of the phone, a silence falling over them.
Neither spoke for a moment, Roman waiting for Patton to share his thoughts and Patton trying to compose himself; trying not to explode on his already fragile friend.
âVirgil is a lot of things Roman. Heâs stubborn and heâs closed off, heâs very private. But he is not someone who would toy with your emotions. He isnât just some heart breaker whoâs with someone because itâs convenient.â Patton could feel his hands shaking as he spoke, his words coming out sharp.
âPatton I-â
âAnd the fact that you would even think, ever suggest,â Pattonâs words were quick, stopping argument Roman had, âsuggest that Virgil would do something like that⊠well it makes me think that you might now know our storm cloud as well as you thought you did.â
Roman was quiet then, he was listening. Waiting to see if Patton would tack more on to what he was saying, waiting to see in the heavy breaths would die down before he spoke.
âIâm sorry if I offended. But I just-â
âNo buts.â Patton could feel himself losing his cool, â No buts Roman. Think about who youâre talking about, and when youâve thought through everything and youâre ready to stop making assumptions about my friend, then we can talk about it.â
Patton didnât hear what Roman had to say after that. He hung the phone up and threw it down quickly, as if it had burned him. He hadnât wanted the conversation to go that way. He didnât plan on snapping on Roman like that, but he wasnât about to stand by and listen to him try to make Virgil out to be something he wasnât. Patton wouldnât stand for that.
He groaned, pressing the heels of his hands against his eyes as he fell back against the blankets. He laid there for a moment, quiet and just thinking. It was clear Roman was hurting, and it was clear by the virtual radio silence that Virgil was too. And here he was, caught in the middle of it with no way to help his friends be happy again. He was at a loss of what to do and that was driving him crazy.
A knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts.
âCome in.â he called, letting his hands fall away and lay against the bed.
Logan walked in, raising and eyebrow at the sight of Patton before closing the door behind him and sitting on the bed.
âRoman called me,â Patton felt Loganâs hand rest against his knee, gentle and comforting, âheâs worried he upset you. Would you like to talk to me about what happened?â
Patton huffed, the hair that had fallen against his face blowing up and to the side. âI got emotional. Some of the things he was saying, questioning, about the relationship he had with Virgil bothered me.â
Logan nodded but stayed quiet. He was waiting for more and Patton knew that.
He took a minute to collect his thoughts before sitting up and turning to better face Logan. âI just⊠I hate that Roman thinks that way about Virge, especially right now. We all know that Virgil doesnât just do things like what he was doing with Roman, Virgil doesnât even really date.â
âRomanâs hurting though, the person he cares about just disappeared on him and only left him a note.â Loganâs soft voice cut through, causing Patton to sigh.
âI know, but itâs like he isnât even considering what doing that might have done to Virgil. Heâs not considering what kind of turmoil that Virge is going through for the choice he made and instead heâs just making all these assumptions about him and-â
âPatton, please breath.â Logan rested his hand on Pattonâs shoulder now, steadying him. âPerhaps Romanâs emotions and hurt are clouding his judgement.â
âYea but-â
âI know that if I was in Romanâs place, I would ask the same questions of you.â Logan looked at Patton, a sad smile on his face. âI know that itâs not true, youâd never do something like that. My emotions and hurt and confusion would cloud my judgement though, Iâm sure of it.â
Patton looked away then, feeling his heart swell and break at the same time.
âI think I messed up Lo.â Patton sighed, tracing the pattern of the comforter. âI shouldnât have yelled at Roman the way I did.â
âItâs okay Patton, Iâm sure Roman will understand. Give him sometime and then call him back.â
Patton felt Loganâs hand against his cheek, urging him to look up. Patton saw a small smile on Loganâs face, and it was enough to bring a small smile to his own as well.
âThank you bear, I appreciate it.â Patton leaned up, placing a small kiss on Loganâs cheek.
A small blush spread across Loganâs cheeks. âNothing to thank me for dear, Iâm just glad youâre smiling again. Donât worry so much about Roman and Virgil, theyâll figure everything out soon enough.â

Ok. So what started as a simple plan of fly to Berlin, just a 90 minute flight, kind of went a bit to crap when the airline decided they no longer fly that route. The fact they decided that the day before we were meant to fly, and didnât bother to tell us until we got to the airport was a bit shit.
Thankfully weâd arrived early as our simple direct 90 minute flight turned into 9 hours of flying and transiting through Paris and just general annoyance.
Have to say all the staff weâre really helpful, and tried their absolute best to get us to Berlin as quick as possible.
Finally arrived in Berlin around 10pm. Got a great room upgrade. And now Iâm about to pass out from exhaustion. Zzzzzzz
