A Night Off || Hypnos + Open
A purple orca whale floated off in an endless abyss. It was asleep, but there was no threat to it, for it was home. And there was no danger that could infiltrate its home without raising its notice.
It awoke with a thought.
There’s something very important about tonight.
It opened its eyes, the darkness around it still prevalent.
Is it someone’s wedding anniversary?
Maybe I was supposed to meet Thanatos somewhere.
It shrugged, closed its eyes, and dozed off again when suddenly the thought returned.
Winter solstice! It’s winter solstice. I’m supposed to be on Olympus!
Quickly, the creature changed its form, from the massive whale into a human-like figure. He wondered what form to take from there on out, and settled for that of a man. Hypnos was, in fact, a man. Identified as one, was born one. But one could never tell what form he would choose. Gender, race, even species were a free-for-all for the daemon spirit of sleep. In his form, he traveled, sprouting the wings from his head he and his kind were known for having, to the very peak of the home of the Olympians.
He landed directly in front of the door, greeting the guards who then opened said doors and allowed the god in. He looked around, not overly eager to be there (as he would’ve much rather been asleep), but still happy to see all the shining faces.
One of them came up to him, greeting him, though he knew not in what manner.
“Happy Solstice, friend!”
