I was very lucky to have started my hairdressing career at a highly regarded salon in Australia. They were the industry leaders at that time; known for innovation and also education. I was exposed to celebrities, magazine shoots and fashion weeks from day one and couldn't get enough of it! I was very hungry to learn and was chosen to be the salon owner's personal assistant, accompanying her on shoots for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and other high-end publications.

It didn't take long for me to realise that this was the direction I wanted my career to head and I started throwing myself into photo-shoots for my portfolio and entering every competition and training program I could find. I was part of the first Australian FAME Team and presented a demonstration alongside Trevor Sorbie while in my second year of the scheme.

While the salon definitely gave me a great education and opportunities, I really do believe that you only get put of your career what you put in. I never say 'no' even if I haven't something before (and I still don't!)  My boss used to say to me "fake it till you make it" which is much more about not letting fear hold you back rather than being full of it.
