Fuck monogamy, tell me your thoughts on SeroKamiDeku
First of all, as someone who is interested in experimenting with polyam, I am always down for some good polyam rep. Fuck love triangles, make them date each other or just share without fighting it’s all unnecessary
Second of all, I cannot stress enough that the first thought that came to mind was that Sero helps Midoriya learn how to flirt by practicing on Kaminari. Like, we all know Kaminari is a huge flirt naturally, and he’s also pretty emotionally intelligent and knows how to read people so it’s kind of a perfect solution.
As for how Sero ended up being the one trying to help Midoriya up his flirting game? Well, with hanging out with Kaminari so often Sero isn’t too bad at reading people either, and he’s one of the only people in their class that has noticed Midoriya suffering from joint problems. He is, however, the only one to reach out and offer a solution of sorts.
See, Sero’s quirk, while rather cool and showy, takes a huge toll on his joints. His elbows take constant strain from being flung around by his tape and the sudden weight shifts while soaring through the air only exacerbate the pain. But he has found a solution, a solution that took a lot of convincing for Midoriya to try but a solution nonetheless. And it’s one of those nights, where they’re passing a bong back and forth and stretching their aching joints that Midoriya lets it slip that he doesn’t know how to flirt, or even how to tell when someone is flirting. Therein lies the beginning of the end of poor Sero Hanta, but he doesn’t know that yet.
Sero ropes Kaminari into the picture because he knows the blond will flirt with pretty much anyone. That, and the fact he knows Kaminari is going through a bit of an identity crisis at the moment regarding his sexuality, so why not kill two birds with one stone? It’s a perfect plan, and the plan is this: Kaminari will teach Midoriya how to flirt and Midoriya gets to practice his flirting skills on Kaminari. Midoriya gets to learn while Kaminari gets to figure out his feelings about boys and Sero just gets to sit back and watch his master plan unfold. It’s genius, until it isn’t.
It’s a perfect plan until it turns back on him. Somewhere along the line, Kaminari gets the bright idea to convince Midoriya to flirt with Sero, too. Probably because Midoriya wanted more practice than with just one single person, or probably due to the fact that Kaminari has been blushing a lot more lately whenever they flirt with each other (seems Kaminari has figured out his stance on boys after all). Either way, Sero is not prepared for the ambush that is Flirty Midoriya Izuku.
With wide, innocent eyes and a smattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose, Midoriya has always been cute in Sero’s opinion, but before Midoriya wasn’t aware of his own good looks. Now? Now Midoriya seems to know, and knows how to weaponize it no less.
He corners Sero in the kitchen late one night, asks Sero to grab a bowl he can’t reach and it seems innocent enough that Sero doesn’t register the change in the other’s demeanor and does so without question. He only realizes something’s different when he tries to hand the bowl to Midoriya and their fingers touch, Midoroya’s hands lingering in place as he smiles up at Sero and bats his eyelashes and smiles in a way that accentuates the freckles spilling over his cheeks.
Sero’s brain short circuits and he suddenly understands what Kaminari feels like after overworking his quirk. It’s ends quickly enough, though, when Midoriya pulls away and starts preparing enough popcorn for an entire floor of the dorm. And Sero wants to return to his room and continue the game he left paused, but curiosity gets the better of him and he asks what the other is up to, learns that Kaminari and Midoriya have a movie night planned. Gets invited and promptly forgets about his game when Midoriya flashes him another smile and asks with hopeful eyes if Sero will join them. And how can he say no?
That’s how Sero finds himself sandwiched between a pretty blond and a pretty freckled boy, holding a bowl of popcorn in his lap and desperately trying to distract himself from how both boys are leaning against him and using his shoulders as pillows. Kaminari has his legs thrown over Sero’s and Midoriya has an arm loosely wrapped around Sero’s and he remembers not a single damn thing about the movie the next day.
He’s gonna kill Kaminari. Or thank him, he’s not sure yet.
He ends up thanking him when they all start dating, and Kaminari likes to remind him of the fact that they’re all dating solely because of Kaminari’s doing when he wants Sero to do something he’s too lazy to do. He never does, but Midoriya always caves, especially when Kaminari pouts and saddens his eyes. They’re an interesting bunch, and Sero wouldn’t trade it for the world.
