The Curious Child
Prompts: The Twelve/Merchant
((again, I’ll probably try and expand this later, but brain is so so tired after this long week. Kitten Karo time!!))
“Pa? What’s the Twelve?” Serilat couldn’t help but smile as he led the Miqo’te kitten towards the entrance to Thal’s Respite.
“Who, not what, Karo,” she was gamely keeping up with his longer stride, though he was doing his best to keep it in check. The Miqo’te kitten was so small, yet so inquisitive. They had barely been together the winter, the three of them, yet, there was no way he was letting her go now. Her education was spotty, and she knew the oddest facts about different cultures, how to get along for a day outside to scrounge for food, yet nothing about the Twelve or anything Eorzean.
“Come along, we’re here to visit the Shrine to Thal, half of Nald’thal, watcher of the Merchants, like ourselves.” He smiled down at her rapt face. “We do this every spring as we’re leaving the Forest and heading out on our travels.” She nodded, oversized ears twitching hearing the other pilgrims talk, whispering at the odd pair.
“For now, watch and do what I do. We’ll grab your Da and talk about the Twelve when we’re done giving our offering,” her tiny hand was wrapped around just two of his fingers, and squeezed in excitement. Picking up on the quiet around her, Karo stayed quiet, following his lead and mimicking his motions, before finally in a burst of energy as they were leaving, broke away and dashed for the cave’s entrance. Chuckling, Serilat followed, looking forward to the changes coming, and many more days of following their new charge.
