Hello guys, as you might have noticed, yes I enjoy writing down theories related to the chapters that come out and going backwards in the story to link more dots missing; therefore, let’s start with a new theory, shall we?

To start off with this theory, perhaps many of the readers noticed that Ferid Bathory and Mikaela Hyakuya have some things in common such as both possessing the famous “Michaela Trait”, both being of certain interest to Rigr Stafford; and, as well, tragedy within them.

Perhaps you’ll wonder why I’m not including Crowley or Ashera when both of them have this famous Michaela Trait, but the reason I’m leaving behind these two will be explained at its own moment within this theory as well.

First of all; Ferid and Mika share these similitudes or physical characteristics to the angel sleeping in the coffin in chapter 85:

Yes you might wonder how these characteristics go like, but well, let’s compare the younger versions of Ferid and Mikaela

Many might notice the resemblance, and of course, Rigr Stafford was focused on finding his personal Michaela after Sika Madu left the Vampire Progenitors by themselves; which quite implies he was seeking someone with certain characteristics and physical atributes as well.

Before heading off to explain the main characteristic these two share asides the Michaela trait, let’s make a review:

Selection due to Michaela trait

As I stated before, these two harbor the famous “Michaela trait”, as to what exactly this trait can do is officially unknown and this is due to the fact that Kagami Takaya hasn’t continued the story of the LN.

But the fact that Rigr chose them to be Michaelas at a certain point has a lot to do with what the First Progenitor did with the other Vampire Progenitors that are currently trapped within the Cursed Gears.

Among vampires, only selected ones were turned into cursed gears; but why selected?

Mahiru Hiragi was the one who managed to create the very first cursed gear; after that, she ended up working with more and that’s something the First Progenitor could see and observe with detail.

Among this; Rigr Stafford at first wanted to test and create what the First Progenitor did with them; find someone with that “special trait” and turn it into a vampire; which is how Ferid was eventually found and turned into a vampire.

He had something within him that made Rigr think he was special and thus proceeded to turn him into a vampire; but, with time, the results Rigr was expecting were null; which is why he left Ferid and decided to pursue or find another test subject that would give better results. How can I assume or believe this?

According to Ferid in chapter 64, Ferid stated that he once called an angel, a MIchaela but then, at the same time, he stated that Rigr chose a new one, a new Michaela, but how?

As many recall along the new parts within the newest LNs, Rigr Stafford after trying to reduce the influence and power of the Hiragi family, he proceeded to do the Project of the Seraph of the End; thus among the test subjects that gave better results; within that list was Mikaela Hyakuya; mainly because Mika had the Seraph trait and the Michaela trait.

Rigr’s plans were mainly focused on making Mika meet Guren and eventually see what the story unfolded within the beggining such as seeing Yu becoming a seraph; having a cursed gear, etc.

But, thanks to Ferid Bathory, such events never came to light and Rigr’s plans were ruined.

A mutual feeling, a feeling both know  NOTE: This does not involve ships

Now, with that small review, there’s something these two share in common, and many might haven’t realized but what could it be?

Yes, “love”. That word that fills or revolves around the story, that feeling that seems to be so strong to the point of killing, or to the point of obssession.

How can I reach such conclusion?

To begin with, Ferid Bathory, stated that he loved his family, and of course, his form of love can be represented as twisted; among this, in chapter 91, many saw how he stated he loved Rigr before attempting to kill him.

Likewise, Mikaela Hyakuya has experimented this feeling as well; back when he was a kid that feeling of love began with the orphanage and the Hyakuya family; within the manga chapters of the Catastrophe, he knew how to direct the kids in order to gather knowledge, he was overprotective over them; he was wary of others which is not bad; but his mind and tactics were higher compared to other kids.

After the loss and having Yu as the last member of the Hyakuya family, his form of love became close to obsession; but before we continue, let’s explain better this term.

The obssession Mika shows or displays is not the one many might believe, in fact, it’s the fact that he’s afraid of losing his last member of the Hyakuya family, the last person that cared for him on his life; which is why he always asked and begged Yu to leave with him; that’s why he did the impossible in order to take him out from humanity’s grasp.

Now, once cleared that; returning to the main topic; Mikaela and Ferid know deeply the feeling of love; both are aware the concept behind that term, both are aware what that feeling can actually make others do; and so, the feeling itself can take two shapes:

A love that is so strong to the point of killing which is a twisted view for people except for Ferid.

A love that is so strong that it can reach the point of obssession, a strong feeling of doing everything within hands to keep someone safe even if it can go against its own wishes.

Now, why didn’t I include Ashera and Crowley within this theory?

Crowley and Ashera are quite alike in terms of attitude, both focused on the greater good of others; both seeked reasons to live but the paths they ended up following eventually lead them to lose their memories and the other, to eventually chase someone until the point it ended up making him lose its feelings towards the fallen ones.

Well, after finally having the official translation, it is time to update some theories as well; many have been wondering if Mika died, if Mika is becoming or turning into a demon or a seraph. Let’s explain with more detail this.

I stated in other posts why Mika wouldn’t die; to begin with, Mikaela is one of the characters with curious or important points such as possessing the seraph trait and the michaela trait. So far, we know how the seraph trait works compared to the Michaela trait.

The reason beneath Mika’s transformation is simple, after his battle against Guren, he was badly injured, one of the questions that has been lingering is, what happened to Krul, why she didn’t appear and so on; but well, this chapter seemed that was to teach Yu a valuable lesson that I’ll speak of later on.

Mika’s transformation into a demon is one of the things that will likely happen due to him being a vampire; all vampires after having  blood loss are either destined to die if they’re attacked by a cursed gear or, in the opposite case, after not drinking blood or starving it leads them to become demons.

To begin with, Mika is a vampire noble, all vampire nobles are sired by a vampire progenitor; vampire progenitors were sired by the First Progenitor himself.

Now, is there a reason why Mika is transforming?

Indeed there is, to begin with, in the fight against Guren; Guren was likely to trigger something with Yu and Mika in there; but Mika, being wary of Guren decided to change that, thus this ended up with him having a massive blood loss leading him to transform into a demon.

Now, many readers expect him to transform into a seraph instead of a demon, but, why do I think it is likely the opposite?

To begin with, humans with the Michaela trait ended up as vampires; in Mika’s case, he was supposed to trigger his seraph if someone didn’t interfer with the process, this someone is no less than Ferid Bathory.

Ferid had knowledge of Rigr’s plans thanks to Guren prior the catastrophe; and was aware of the Hyakuya church and sect that Rigr Stafford made in order to do experiments of the sorts.

Ferid also had knowledge of the kids that were part of the experiment of the Seraph of the End, therefore, what does Mika have to do with this and the whole theory?

To begin with, Mika was destined to be picked up by Guren, just as what happened with Yu; but, Ferid was aware this was something Rigr wanted to happen; and Ferid, being the cunning and smart character he is, decided to twist this development; and this is mainly because he was aware Rigr found his new Michaela, therefore, if Mika had ended up with the humans instead of being turned into a vampire; it’d have been possible in the current scenario that he’d end up transforming into a seraph of the end.

Thus, this kind of development ended up giving us in the story a vampire Mika holding a sinful key within him. 

So far, the story has only given us humans losing their humanity in order to transform into sreaphs; in Yu’s case, he was a human with 10% nonhuman, this percentage increased thanks to the constant use of pills that amplified the curse of the demon, and lastly, ended up giving up his humanity to transform into a seraph.

For Mirai’s case, she was forced to transform into one, it was clear that she held a sinful key due to the strange illness she had back at the beginning, therefore when they started the experiment with her, this only made her awake the seraph trait within her.

For Mika’s case, he started to lose his humanity after Krul made him a vampire; but, since he was a newborn vampire, Mika ended up as an incomplete vampire, and after drinking Yu’s blood, he ended up losing his humanity as well.

The reason as to why he will become a demon involves a lot the Michaela trait; thus so far, the Michaela trait has been referenced in two beings with the odds of becoming demons; the first one being Ferid and the next one being Mika.

And, as an extra, it is likely possible someone within the story wanted Mika to be a cursed gear or part of it since Asuramaru is called as the Sword of Michaela

What do you think? Seraph or demon?

Well, returning to the lovely theory time, let’s start with this interesting topic.

So far, I’ve found theories being related with this one, but I want to give my own personal point of view.

So far, we know that three seraphs exist in the whole OnS universe. These seraphs are: Yuichiro Hyakuya, Mirai Kimizuki and the unnamed Seraph we met in chapter 64/65.

According to the unnamed Seraph who was able to summon the horsemen, even if a previous seraph is killed, a new one will appear in the world. But, how would that be possible if the population rate is pretty low?

So far, we know that Japan has the highest population rate while other countries in the OnS universe were doomed thanks to the forbidden experiments, which means, vampires took control of those countries; while the JIDA managed to fight back.

Even so, we know few people who carry the Seraph gene or trait; those people being the Hyakuya orphans who were murdered thanks to Ferid; Mikaela Hyakuya, Yuichiro Hyakuya, Shiho Kimizuki, Mirai Kimizuki, Yoichi Saotome and lastly, Tomoe Saotome whose killer was Lacus.

We know that Guren managed to awake Yu’s seraph thanks to the pills he was receiving, these pills allowed Yu’s seraph to awake and after some time, it allowed him to control it thanks to a certain drug.

Meanwhile, in Mirai’s case, she was subjected by Kureto, she was used as a test subject in order to awake her seraph, which means they used a certain drug in order to do so, so far we don’t have much information about that drug but it can be certain that it forces the Seraph gene or trait to activate in a painful way, instead of Yu’s case. And lastly, the unknown seraph boy, we don’t know how he he became a test subject or when the experiments began with him but it could be said that he was the first test subject in order to summon the horsemen of John. 

Since the horsemen never ceased to appear, it could imply he was the first active Seraph. 

Even so, now that he stopped being a Seraph, does it mean another will likely appear?

The answer is no, but why? Well to begin with, he was never killed, he simply remains inactive, therefore, the seraph form or side of him is still alive but without the dosage or drug to awake that Seraph, we could imply that his seraph is asleep, just like Mirai’s case as we saw in chapter 72. Meanwhile with Yu, well he uses his seraph powers as he wishes to.

Even so, in order to awake a seraph if someone else, that person first must possess the seraph trait, therefore, it’d be impossible to create a new one or to allow a new one to be born.

Now, where are the other 4 remaining seraphs?

The last remaining seraphs, well, they could have resided in one of the Hyakuya orphanages but they’re dead, so they can be discarted, Tomoe Saotome also held the seraph trait but she was killed, therefore, if she was likely to be a seraph, she’s discarted from the list.

Now, the question turns as who are the three remaining seraphs?

Easy, the last two wielders of the black demon series, and with the last wielders I remove Guren and Shinya because they were subjected to another type of experiment in order to be able to wield black demon series.

These last two wielders are no less than Shiho Kimizuki and Yoichi Saotome but why haven’t they awoken their seraph forms?

First of all, we have to take the natures of their demons, unlike Asuramaru that resided in Mahiru’s body right away when she was born and was able to form a huge desire inside of Mahiru; their demons might not be able to handle the power of the seraphs, therefore, that might be the reason as to why Guren never gave them special drugs in order to awake that Seraph.

As we know, the strongest demon among Yu, Shiho and Yoichi’s demon is obviously Asuramaru, while the second is Kiseki-o and lastly Gekkouin. (Yes I’m just taking these three, I’m not counting the other demons because I’m just doing the seraph analysis)

Now, who is the last to wield that seraph trait, that’s obvious, Mikaela Hyakuya, even so, there’s a reason why he can’t awake that seraph trait, and it’s basically because he’s a vampire. He’s literally a living corpse. While Seraphs allow their hosts to remain alive even if they are seriously injured, vampires can’t do that anymore because their bodies no longer hold any sign of life, therefore, it’s unlikely to see Mikaela’s seraph form in the near future.
