1st one being one I did yesterday, I decided to draw her more my sorta art style for the first time!! ♡

These I did sometime for Christmas ! And as a gift for my best idea supplier beran 😜

When I was doing my post about how I think Serafine cares for Mordecai, which you can find here, I added at the end a little snippet of me talking about the possibility of Serafine being romantically interested in Mordecai. I had been aware of the fact that some people ship them but I never really thought much of it. Now the theory once again crossed my mind, and I have found myself going down another Lackadaisy rabbit hole. With the evidence I have found I’ve decided that I should make a more in depth look into this possibility…

(Disclaimer: I’m just a serial yapper! not trying to be some armchair psychologist. Take everything here with a grain of salt and always do your own research.)

Now I’m not going to re-discuss my previous thoughts on Mordecai and Serafine (mainly because I’m lazy) but also I already have in my Serafine, an oddly caring person theory here. so I’ve just included some highlights from that post above but i do suggest you read the original one first as it will provide some much needed context for this analysis.

On to the analysis, from what I do know is that Serafine treats Mordecai differently, specifically the difference between him and her cult members…

The image on the left shows Serafine with her cult while the one on the right shows her with Mordecai. Already there is clearly a visible difference between how she presents herself infront of Mordecai. When she’s with her cult members she seems more relaxed, not even bothering to put on shoes whist with Mordecai she presents herself very formally.

not only dose she dress formally infront of him, but Serafine also makes an effort to dress LIKE him. Often wearing a black suit with a red tie just like him.

I have also noticed how Serafines suit doesn’t actually fit her. On the bottom is an example of how a suit jacket shouldn’t fit around the waist and you can see, Serafine clearly has that problem shown in the top two images. Now this makes sense as women’s suits didn’t really exist in the 1920s so it’s obvious that Serafine is actually wearing a men’s suit. Now why doesn’t Serafine get it tailored? Although it wasn’t common back then surely she would have found someone to do it. At the very least she could have gotten Mr Sweet to hire a tailor for her similar to how Mitzi did the same for Mordecai. It seems she actively chooses to dress in that way. Taking the extra mile just to wear something akin to Mordecai’s look.

So we know that Serafine seems to actively try to mimic Mordecai so much so that she’ll wear men’s clothes to do it. the real question is why? Why go through all that trouble just to look like Mordecai? This is where we get into the idea that she is romantically attracted to him. As a wise man from a TV show once said “imitation is the oldest form of flattery” and I think that rings true here. I don’t even think she even wants anything sexual out of the relationship either. She knows how Mordecai acts, what he likes and dislikes so she wouldn’t take any flirty or obvious approach to it. So what’s the next best thing can she do? Try her best to act like him of course! Serafine knows Mordecai notices the little stuff so that’s what she does, subtly acting like him to gain his approval.

I’d also like to give an honorable mention to how Serafine seems to listen to Mordecai. My last analysis I talked about how Serafine always lets Mordecai take the lead on jobs but something I forgot to mention was In the Lackadaisy comic hatchet man, which you can find here, Mordecai tells Serafine “no more jokes” and she actually listens, acting more seriously when there on a job together later on in the comic. The only time we see her not listening to Mordecai was when she carved that symbol into him but as discussed in my last analysis about them I pointed out how Serafine did it because she believed it would protect him in the future.

As a recap, we found that Serafine seems to…

1: Actually care for Mordecai

2: Actively try’s to act and dress like him

3: listens to Mordecai unless she believes what he’s doing puts him in danger

4: she makes an effort to appeal more to him

Conclusion

we lost our sense of self respect

Being back in New York to look over his own fledgling, Mouse tried very hard to keep himself busy while Rebel worked or spent time with Ryder. Oh, those two were a pair. A chuckle left his lips as he looked through some of the books in crystal shop that Rebel's coven ran. It was a lovely little place, something he was happy to visit since he needed to make sure he had the proper materials for his fledgling. Dropping a book, he sighed and bent over to pick it up but ended up spilling a few more out of his arms.
