Gamen Amen to the holy gay men of my D&D kids
[Picrew]
There's also something to be said of Sephir-as-Dionysus in such an AU, just
Some Dionysus tales say he was born to a mortal mom, contrast to how the Fenn Family's first ancestor was a mortal human saint
Last of the Olympians to arrive, bit of an outsider for that
God of wine, revelry & religious ecstasy, fucking compare to Sephir being a black sheep in his family for his partying habits usually despite his religious background (consider if Fenns are descendants who knew their claim to Dionysus's line and called it a curse, vs. Sephir just owning it)
The general benevolence but tinged with earn mercurial cruelty when someone crosses him (am I talking Dionysus or Sephir? Yes.)
This is fun
8, 15, 48 for cae/rev/sephir!
8. Weapon of Choice
Caelia: A chunky, sharp and maybe curved shortsword in one hand and a dagger in another.
Revelry: I marked down that they have a rapier, but like. flavored better? a scimitar.
Sephir: I’ve been consistently torn between whether Seph has a two-handed weapon, or a onehand and a shield. This struggle continues tonight as I’m still not sure which is his more preferred mode of combat...
15. Can they sing? Can they dance?
Caelia: Sing? A little bit, but she doesn’t really like showcasing the skill. Dance? Nnnnnot really. She has the dexterity and grace for it, but skipped on any few lessons of such her family intended for her and is too embarrassed to learn by this point.
Revelry: Yes to both! Dancing is the biggest joy and best skill in life, though they’ve been known to write and sing a song or two with good effect too!
Sephir: Answered! But yes to both basically, with both skills a bit rusty in some form or another.
48. What was their lowest point? What was their highest point?
Caelia: oh woof, Lowest point was maybe late teens and early adulthood? When she felt she strangled under the weight of just being another facet of the family and business and becoming perturbed by the growing fanaticism in Cornelia, and around this time is when she started really investing in the darker side of oceanic trading, which led to the better, technically, but. As for highest point? Actually getting a crew together, establishing her trade proper, intending to make an empire of it (which will be the highest point, but she’s not there... yet.)
Revelry: Lowest? Certainly in the early days of performing, maybe not even a teen yet and their family all going hungry amidst the Abezi streets there for awhile. Revelry felt useless and hungry and frustrated. Highest point? Everytime a full crowd shows up, everytime someone Recognizes them with a spark of excitement in their eyes.
Sephir: Lowest point was probably sometime in paladin training, especially there at the beginning of it roughly around his mid-teens. endless days of the same shit, same harsh conditions and sound of metal striking in practices, hour long songs and prayers at the start and end of days, and the same people most all glancing at him with curiosity or condescension or anger, all depending on whether or not they thought they knew who he was or not. Highest point might just have been meeting the hooligans proper, the first fight and understanding of just what and who he had found.

5, 15, 20, 31, 42, 50 for Sephir and one more of your choice!
Gonna pick Chroma, my modern era warlock tief >:3c
The warmth of the Divine, Sephir thinks, is different.
Of course it is, as it should be, many would say. But it also is not as different as he thinks everyone makes it out to be. Everyone praises that it's like sunlight, like hope in your chest, and all other poetic terms Sephir found pretty, but delicate, unnecessary.
Maybe that is how Divinity and its granted Powers are for some people. But not Sephir.
Divinity, for him, is a shot of liquor, searing and sinking down your body the same way. The fizzing of power at the fingertips not unlike being buzzed.
Divinity is like the warmth around a mending injury, a wound your body tries to mend. Divinity mends bones and weaves skin tissue back faster, but the skindeep fever remains as the memory.
Sometimes, Divinity is the fire that does not hurt near as much as it probably does anyone else. The consequence of being a Fenn. Of being blessed and cursed both.
Sephir has never been sure Divinity is made of the same things as the love he does have in his chest. The embers settled somewhere in his chest sparking not like liquor, or hurt, or fire, even when all those things get involved.
(He laughs usually when glasses break, when everything smells like whiskey and his knuckles ache and grow dark with ink-black blood. Fire has only hit the alcohol-stained tables once before, not their fault for once, but funny all the same.)
(No, Divinity is not the same warmth as love in Sephir's chest.)
Here y’all, enjoy this stream of thought Fenn Family outline
Nidia Fenn - Matriarch of the family (she/her and they/them, age ~50). Paladin. High position in society and the church, main trainer of warhounds. Snow white hair tied into a long braid. Circlet and a variety of jewelry. Claws? Tail, forked tongue, hooves. Devout and sardonic Queen Calathe from the Witcher energy?
Dominic Fenn (previous surname Marnan) - Married into the family (he/him, age ~53). From another noble family and arranged in marriage to Nidia. Human Rogue, dark blond-ish hair and dark, warm eyes. Genuinely cares about Nidia and the kids, but wasn’t always good at showing it. Maybe dead by now? maybe.
Perenna Fenn - Eldest (they/them, age 30?), war-trained Cleric? Inquisitor Rogue? Both?, married already probably. Short bone-white hair. Bigger horns, sharp teeth, odd patterning on back, no tail. Solemn and seems intimidating, but actually just has a Perfectionist Complex.
Sarielle Fenn - Second eldest (she/her, age 27), Cleric/Bard? choir/music leader & conductor. Long pink-white hair? Wears glasses and a circlet. Has small bat-like wings that are usually tucked away, discolored birthmarks around her eyes, hooves? and a tail. Kind, often the mediator for in-family fights, a surprisingly grim sense of humor.
Sephir Fenn - Middle child (he/him age 25), Paladin. black sheep & runaway from the fam. Tastefully disheveled barely-blue-white hair & fondness for fashion. Forked tongue, Sharp Teeth, no tail? A bit jaded, prideful and stubborn, Mr. Causes Problems On Purpose.
Eirian Fenn - Resident Family Teen (they/them and he/him, age 17) amidst Monk training? Also a bit of a black sheep, but nowhere to the degree of Sephir and laughs abt it. Messy white shoulder-length hair, dresses in darker colors than the rest of the family. Claws, is double-jointed, forked tongue.
Solara Fenn - baby of the fam (she/her and they/them, age 14?) is not trained to fight, maybe has arcane powers that have yet to come in? fluffy stark white hair. One less finger on each hand, tail, odd striped-like patterns on her arms and legs, Sharp Teeth, hooves. Sweet kid to family and family friends, but a bit vindictive especially as she gets odd looks at parties while being A Baby Teen.
