Fresh Ideas for SEO: Charlie Sheen to the Rescue
Writing SEO content is lovemaking: you get as much as you give to the process. If you are void of interesting news and clever popular sayings you will hardly stimulate...anyone.....*wink*.
I've had one golden rule for keeping fresh content on the web.
Royal Rule #2 Start listening for what hasn't been said.
When drafting engaging SEO content it's easy to forget that most people know the facts, figures, quotes and the like regarding trending topics. I listen for what hasn't been said. Â Why? So I can find it first! Most of the answers to your questions can be found on the net or from an organizational rep via telephone. Once I wrote a piece on Charlie Sheen just after his MSNBC interview. I actually find the guy to be an alluring scoundrel. Every good girl likes a bad boy, I guess. Anyway, while others wrote content about Charlie Sheen, millions of entries on the SERPs intitled "Charlie Sheen's Two Wives", I focused my content on the wives. I was one of the few who actually used their names in my copy, SEO keywords and meta title.
Then it happened. Just as I suspected, once people had grown tired of watching the video interview of Charlie, they began asking the very questions I had asked myself. "Who are these two women?" "Where did they come from?" For four months my Charlie Sheen post received double the traffic all my other posts for the year had received. People were very curious about the women so any mention of them was picked up quickly. Now whenever I get writers block I think of my Charlie Sheen story. I suppose I actually owe Bree Olson and Brooke Mueller a thanks but as usual, a woman's credit is usually lost in the midst of a man's mess.
