RFA+SV - sensitive MC cries because of a book
Iāll be a little flexible with this, because I wanted to tie in actual books with different MCs. Ā And the sad part isnāt always at the end.
SPOILER ALERT because Iām referencing books! Ā Iāll mention the title with the personā¦but yeah. Ā Youāll know that something tragic happens. Ā So.
snAPE KI-
Zen -Ā āYour Lie in Aprilā (manga)
heās a little confused, because every time he saw MC before, she was happy or squee-ing while reading the manga
but now sheās always crying
always
always crying
Is so concerned, after a while
āBabeā¦whatās wrong?ā
āSheā¦sheā¦!ā
MC bursts out crying, again.
He has to cuddle her. Ā He has to.
Sheās so cute.
āThe lie was not that she wasnāt sick! Ā That was not her lie in April!ā
He doesnāt understand, but he helps her grieve, wrapping her in soft blankets and cuddling her
Has found yet another sweet side to his MC
Yoosung -Ā āWhere the Red Fern Growsā
she loves animals, so this one hits her where it hurts
Yoosung just walks in and finds her softly weeping over fictional dogs
he tries to comfort her, but because he hasnāt read the book, he doesnāt really get it
so he reads the book
Heās a smart dude; he can read quickly.
This should help him understand MC better, right?
So he finishes the book.
But now there are two softly weeping cuties
hot cocoa and soft tissues all around.
Jaehee -Ā āLittle Womenā
Sheās read the book, already, so she sees it coming
she just didnāt expect crying
āWhy is it always the sweet ones? Ā Why!?ā
Finds it endearing that MC cares
Offers MC a warm hug and patience in letting her grieve
Jumin -Ā āSo You Want to be a Wizardā by Diane Duane
MC introduces Jumin to the world of fictional writing
she thought it would be funny, so she started reading it
he thinks itās silly, but he wants to read it, too
They read it together, a chapter or two just before bed
She likes the plucky characters, and he likes the scientific kind of magic it portrays.
They both end up falling deeper into it.
And thenā¦that ending.
Jumin is genuinely touched, but heās a bit surprised to see that MC is crying.
āDarling, they arenāt real.ā
āButā¦they felt so realā¦!ā
A bit confused, because he knows MC understands the difference between reality and fantasy, but then, heās not used to reading fiction.
She tries to explain how well-written things can help readers develop a special sort of emotional attachment.
But also, she is crying, so her explanation kind of suffers for it.
Jumin sort of understands; he just canāt relate.
But itās just like his wife to be so sensitive about it.
He finds himself admiring it.
Saeyoung -Ā āCharlotteās Webā
Canāt help teasing her when she starts crying
āItās a spider.ā
āA really smart spider.Ā This spider can read and write.ā
āItās not real!ā
āTHESE TEARS ARE REAL.ā
but he knows how it ends, so he hopes sheāll cheer up from the ending
instead, he finds her curled up on the couch, crying harder
āAngel! Ā Why?! Ā It was a happy ending!ā
āTHATāS WHY IāM CRYING.ā
Heās a bit of an S and she is a bit of an M, apparentlyā¦I guess they balance each other out?
He finds it cute, but a little silly.
Tries to make her laugh, after. Ā He doesnāt like to see her sad, even if itās for fictional animals.
V -Ā āAllegientā by Veronica Roth
Sheās crying, but itās a little strange
MC really seems like a friend of hers has died.
She really seems like sheās grieving.
Vās rather concerned; sheās taking the ending way harder than he expected.
āYou donāt atone in death! Ā You atone in life!ā
V tries to support MC as best as he can.
The problem is that neither of them understand why sheās crying so hard; MC doesnāt, either
Maybe because she didnāt see that ending coming?
Maybe because she didnāt think the ending was fair?
Or maybeā¦thereās another reason?
Saeran -Ā āLe Petit Princeā
He notices her staring off into space, tears slowly flowing
Heās very concerned, but then she explains that itās because of a book, and he relaxes a bit
āItās a kidās book.ā
āItās a surprisingly heavy kidās book.ā
āā¦itās like 50 pages long.ā
āHeavy contentā¦surprisingly heavy contentā¦ā
Heās a little weirded out, but he lets her have her moment. Ā Kisses her forehead and gives her her space.
She always was a sensitive thing. Ā If she werenāt, she would never have connected with him.
Heās sceptical, but when she isnāt looking, he reads the book, himself.
She catches him when heās done; heās not crying, but now heās staring into space, the finished book held absently in his hands.
āThis was a deep book.ā
āRight?ā
