Is there a good time of day to do portraits?
Ā Ā Itās probably not a question most people ask. Ā But ask yourself; is there a good time of day to do portraits?
Ā Introducingā¦ā¦ā¦.. THE GOLDEN HOUR!
Ā The golden hour is the hour during sunrise and sunset. Ā Itās what gives your portraits that creamy, dreamy look that everyone wants. Itās also the most flattering light and gives highlights and dimensions youāll never see at high noon.
Ā Speaking of high noon, if youāre into harsh shadows and raccoon eyes, go ahead and schedule your appointment at this time.
Ā Ā But, Melissa, what about location?
Ā Think about what you want in your background. Ā Is there an open field of your favorite flowers? Ā Do you have a wonderful āthinking spotā out in the tree line in your back yard? Ā
Ā Certain locations can and will affect the time of day to shoot.
Ā Letās take the tree line example: Ā If these are 50 foot pines with branches to the ground, we may want to shoot a little earlier in the day to allow adequate light for that area. Ā If itās a more open forest, golden hour light will stream through like a dream.
Ā So, when you schedule your Senior Portrait or Family session with me, be sure to askā¦.
Ā Whenās the best time to have my session?
Ā Iāll see you bright and early in the morning or in the late evening.
