We made it. We are home. 🏡 Warning: icky somewhat graphic post ahead. 🚨 For those who didn’t catch my stories: Lillie had surgery to improve her quality of life. She has had tumors (they’re fairly sure benign ones) on her elbow and in her little nub tail. The one on her elbow kept bumping on stuff and getting bigger. The one in her tail grew so big it caused...issues...back there. And would flap around when she ran. The vet finally said ok she’s ready for surgery. It’s time to remove those tumors. She’s 12 so we knew recovery would be hard. But during and after surgery she started leaking. A lot. And I’m not talking about urine. To be graphic: it was bloody. And since her surgery had nothing to do with her internal plumbing the vet didn’t know what was wrong. All in all, it was more expensive than we thought. Now she’s on more meds and needs more care. She leaked all the way home. Which meant that in 60 mph winds that felt like they came from the depths of a frozen hell we drove 75 mph all the way home with the windows down due to the smell. The roar of that wind is unlike anything I’ve heard before. And now Murphy is traumatized due to that. Lillie has to be in a little isolation pen lined with old towels and takes 5 different meds. The recovery game with an elderly pet is just so difficult. We don’t care at all if it’s more work for us - we just want her to be ok. Please think of Lillie, wish her well on her recovery. She’s the best old girl and she only deserves good things because she’s been the most well behaved dog all her life.
