Cortis Reactions: You Accidentally Call Them Oppa. ᯓ★
JAMES 🦅-
It's late afternoon in the practice room. The members are taking a break, music still playing quietly from the speakers. You’re handing out water bottles because everyone looks half‑dead, and James is sitting on the floor stretching his shoulders.
You’re not even thinking — you’re tired, they’re tired — and when you pass him his bottle, you say:
“Here, oppa— oh my gosh, I didn’t mean—”
You freeze.
He freezes.
The entire room freezes.
James blinks once. Slowly. Like his brain just blue‑screened.
Then he looks up at you with that very specific James expression — eyebrows slightly raised, mouth pressed into a line, trying so hard not to laugh.
“…Oppa?” he repeats, voice low, like he’s testing the word.
You’re already dying inside, shaking your head, waving your hands, trying to backtrack.
“I didn’t— it just slipped— I wasn’t—”
He finally cracks, letting out this soft, breathy laugh that he tries to hide behind his hand.
“Relax,” he says, still smiling. “I’m not gonna bite you.”
But he’s flustered too — you can tell by the way he looks away for a second, rubbing the back of his neck like he needs a moment.
Then, because he’s James — serious but weird, older‑brother energy but also annoyingly teasing — he leans back on his hands and says:
“You know… if you’re gonna call me that, at least warn me first.”
You nearly combust.
The younger members start snickering, whispering, nudging each other, and James shoots them a look that shuts them up instantly.
Then he glances back at you — softer this time.
“Don’t worry about it,” he says quietly. “It was… cute.”
And that’s when you decide you’re never speaking again.
MARTIN 🐕🦺
You're all in New Zealand for shooting. Wide open fields, wind everywhere, the sky way too blue for its own good. The crew is setting up a drone shot, the boys are scattered around drinking iced coffees, and you’re trying to keep cables from blowing away.
Martin jogs over to you because he wants to show you a rock he found that “looks like a tiny potato.”
You’re crouched down taping a cable, not even looking up when you say:
“Hold on, oppa— can you put that down for a sec?”
Silence.
Actual silence.
You freeze.
He freezes.
Even the wind seems to pause like it wants to hear what happens next.
Then Martin does the most Martin thing possible:
He gasps. Loudly. Dramatically. One hand on his chest like he’s in a K‑drama.
“Oppa?” he repeats, eyes wide, voice pitched up like he just heard the plot twist of the century.
You’re already shaking your head, mortified.
“No— no, I didn’t mean— it just slipped—”
But he’s already spiraling.
He drops into a squat next to you, staring at you like you’ve just confessed a state secret.
“Wait, wait, wait,” he says, holding up both hands. “Say it again. I need to confirm this wasn’t a hallucination.”
You bury your face in your hands.
He gently pries them away.
“(Y/n),” he says, way too serious for someone wearing a windbreaker that’s three sizes too big, “I need you to understand something.”
You brace yourself.
“I have been WAITING for someone to call me that on this trip.”
You blink.
He beams.
Then he stands up, turns toward the other members, and yells across the field:
“SHE CALLED ME OPPA!”
James looks like he wants to evaporate.
Keonho starts laughing so hard he almost drops his coffee.
Juhoon just shakes his head like he expected this.
Seonghyeon gives you a thumbs‑up from twenty feet away.
Martin turns back to you, grinning so wide his eyes disappear.
“Don’t worry,” he says, leaning in conspiratorially. “I won’t make it weird.”
He absolutely makes it weird.
For the rest of the shoot, every time you ask him to do something — hand you tape, move a prop, stand still for two seconds — he answers with:
“Yes, oppa?”
“Oppa reporting for duty.”
“Oppa is listening.”
And every time, he laughs like it’s the funniest thing in the world.
But later, when the sun starts setting and everyone’s packing up, he walks past you, nudges your shoulder, and says quietly:
“…It was cute, though.”
And then he runs away before you can react.

JUHOON 🐢
At the studio in Los Angeles. It’s past midnight, the MV shoot is running long, and the crew is rearranging lights for the next scene. Most of the members are half‑asleep on the floor or scrolling on their phones. You’re checking equipment, trying to stay awake.
Juhoon is sitting on a folding chair, sipping water, watching the set with that calm, unreadable expression he always has when he’s tired but focused.
You walk over to hand him a new mic pack, and without thinking — your brain running on fumes — you say:
“Here, oppa— can you hold this for a sec?”
You freeze.
He freezes.
The mic pack freezes in mid‑air.
Juhoon blinks once. Slowly.
His eyes lift to yours, and there’s this tiny shift — not shock, not embarrassment, just… awareness.
“…Oppa?” he repeats, voice low, quiet, almost careful.
You immediately shake your head, mortified.
“No— no, I didn’t mean— I’m just tired—”
He doesn’t tease you.
He doesn’t laugh.
He doesn’t make it dramatic.
Instead, he looks down for a second, like he’s processing something he wasn’t prepared for. His fingers tighten slightly around the mic pack.
Then he exhales a soft, almost amused breath.
“You should be more careful,” he says, eyes flicking back to yours. “Saying things like that.”
Your heart stops.
He’s not scolding you — he’s flustered.
But in the Juhoon way: quiet, controlled, subtle.
He stands up, steps a little closer so the others won’t overhear, and adds:
“…Someone might take it seriously.”
You swear the room gets warmer.
Before you can respond, the director calls for the next setup. Juhoon hands you the empty water bottle he was holding, brushing your fingers lightly — too lightly to be an accident.
“Thanks,” he says, voice softer now. “And… don’t worry. It was cute.”
He walks away before you can combust, shoulders a little stiffer than usual — the only sign that he’s more affected than he’ll ever admit.
And for the rest of the night, every time you pass by him, he glances at you with that tiny, unreadable smile… like he’s replaying the moment in his head.
SEONGHYEON 🦊
Setting:
The practice room. Bright lights, mirrors everywhere, the members stretching while the choreographer sets up for a run‑through. Seonghyeon is off to the side, quietly practicing a footwork detail he’s been trying to perfect — focused, calm, in his own little world.
You’re adjusting the speaker settings, and he walks over to hand you the remote because he noticed you reaching for it.
You take it without looking up and say:
“Thanks, oppa— can you hold the door for a sec?”
The remote nearly slips out of his hand.
He freezes.
You freeze.
The choreographer looks confused because Seonghyeon never freezes.
He blinks once, like his brain just hit a loading screen.
“…Oppa?” he repeats, but it comes out soft, almost careful — like he’s not sure he heard you right.
You whip around, mortified.
“I didn’t— I wasn’t— it just slipped out—”
He immediately looks away, ears turning pink so fast it’s almost impressive.
He clears his throat, tries to regain his calm, but he’s failing miserably.
He keeps his eyes on the floor when he speaks.
“You… shouldn’t say things like that so casually,” he murmurs, voice low and a little shaky.
You swear you see him swallow.
He tries to hand you the remote again, but his fingers brush yours and he pulls back like he touched a hot stove.
“It’s not— I mean— it’s not bad,” he says quickly, still not looking at you. “Just… unexpected.”
The choreographer calls for everyone to line up.
Seonghyeon nods, but he doesn’t move.
He’s still processing.
Finally, he glances at you — just a tiny flick of his eyes — and you catch the exact moment he gets flustered all over again.
He turns away so fast he almost bumps into the mirror.
During practice, he keeps messing up tiny steps he never messes up.
Martin whispers, “What’s wrong with him?”
James just sighs like he already knows.
After the run‑through, when everyone’s grabbing water, Seonghyeon walks past you, stops, hesitates, then says quietly — without turning around:
“…It sounded nice. When you said it.”
And then he escapes the room like his life depends on it.
KEONHO 🐶
Setting:
A beach in New Zealand. The boys are filming a playful outdoor segment, and everyone’s taking a break. Some are skipping rocks, some are filming TikToks, and Keonho is trying to build a sandcastle that keeps collapsing.
You walk over with a towel because he somehow got sand everywhere, and without thinking, you say:
“Here, oppa— you’ve got sand on your face.”
He freezes mid‑movement.
Like a statue.
Hand still in the air.
Mouth slightly open.
Then—
He EXPLODES.
“OPPA?!”
He practically jumps to his feet, sand flying everywhere.
You immediately regret everything.
“No— wait— I didn’t mean— it just slipped—”
But he’s already spiraling.
He points at you with both hands like he just caught you stealing state secrets.
“YOU CALLED ME OPPA! YOU SAID IT! I HEARD IT WITH MY OWN EARS!”
Martin, from twenty feet away:
“Why are you yelling?”
Keonho ignores him completely.
He starts pacing in a circle, hands on his head, muttering dramatically:
“No way… no way… she called ME oppa first? Not James? Not Martin? ME?!”
You cover your face.
He crouches in front of you like he’s interviewing a witness.
“Say it again,” he demands. “For scientific purposes.”
You shake your head violently.
He gasps like you’ve betrayed him.
“YOU’RE EMBARRASSED? AFTER YOU JUST DROPPED THAT ON ME LIKE A BOMB?”
He stands up, turns to the ocean, and screams into the waves:
“SHE CALLED ME OPPA!”
A seagull flies away in fear.
The other members are dying laughing.
James is facepalming.
Juhoon is recording.
Seonghyeon is pink but pretending he’s not.
Keonho turns back to you, suddenly shy for the first time in ten minutes. His voice drops, softer, almost unsure.
“…You meant it, right?”
You blink.
He panics.
“I MEAN— NOT LIKE— YOU DON’T HAVE TO— I JUST— IT WAS—”
He gives up, covers his face with the towel you gave him, and groans into it.
Then, in the smallest voice:
“…It was cute.”
He drops the towel, sprints away down the beach, and immediately trips over his own sandcastle.
