Ars Electronica Garden LiepÄja / Planting a Resort for Mental EcologyMPLab āāÆLiepÄja University Art Research Laboratory (LV)
i promise to speak with no mistake to treat myself through the brief threats diving into the sea as a flow of my consciousness articulating developments ā the creation (system) iām living in - self-poem: METAMODERNCONshitNESS audio link: https://soundcloud.com/dianalelis/metamodern-conshitness-eng my secret space ā consumed by sand, wind and water. Seaside ā retreat from the everyday storms in a safe and constant calmness that I found in each grain of the sand...as a response to the current political, environmental and economic uncertainty of today. Residing in the coastal resort town of Liepaja, she explored the fragile structure of mental ecology (Guattari 1989) and found an individual self-form as an expression for well-being during the times of change. Self-poem as an immersive audio-work shows the line between being passive and active (meditation and constant process of thinking) for self-sustainability, mental exercise and retreat. -
The momentum of coastal experience is synthesized by texts created by significant authors of postmodern times.

Did this research in preparation for the exam. This was something that interested me for a while.

Public and Private Keys
This blog post relates back to this post: https://nomiabalone.tumblr.com/post/185559949840/module-2-lab-reflection. This research was prompted by the Case Study: Houdini when it was identified as key encryption-decryption method that is used in modern times.
A secret key is used to read and convert an encrypted source of information
Anyone listening in will not be able to decipher the decrypted message (jumbled of letters)
Used to transfer information over an unstable medium
The issue is that the recipient and sender of the messages must have the key that no one can guess. Physical separation can be an issue.
Asymmetric encryption: create KeyA and KeyB
HELLO --> KeyA --> ABCD --> KeyB --> HELLO
Anything encrypted in KeyA can only be decrypted with Key B and vice versa.
Generate 2 keys, called a key pair. One of them is a public key which can be published everywhere (email, server, published on website)
Private key is the other key that must be kept secret
Another interesting fact is that if you encrypt a message with your private key and this encrypted message is published, yes you may be able to decrypt it with the publicly available public key, but it also authenticates that you are the sender (because you are the only one who has the private key)
If symmetric encryption, you need n(n-1)/2 keys in total ( total means both public and private)
For asymmetric encryption, you need 2n keypairs.

Self-Research: Bits of Security
Since the time Bits of Security was mentioned in my first lab and lectures, I was confused with the concept. I came across a video by tutor Adam Smallhorn and decided to watch it to reiterate my understanding. See my notes as evidence below. Note that the notes are in an image format because maths equations could not be formatted here (what iām trying to say is that these are my own notes and not a copy of someone elseās)

California has become a global centre of design. While its mid-century modernism is well documented, this is the first exhibition to examine Californiaās more recent influence on design.
Bright and broad exhibition which covered various topics of visual development of California, specifically Silicone Valley, from product design to rebellious typography projects. Bright and broad exhibition, it gives an insight at the visual culture and technological advancement of that era.Ā
