      He raps knuckles on the inner airlock as he passes through, stepping up into the body       of the lander.           "Decided I could take the lander 'cause the cargo space could be       converted and used for life support, including space, for two people.       S'that's what       I've done - look ... "

      This is Cooper, showing his work: if he's going to go out there,    he's going to at least       prove to Mann that everything is safe as it can be. There's something still raw and sad       in Cooper when he looks at Mann      --       looks at Mann and sees Murphy's betrayal,       Donald's frank accusation (this world was never enough for you, was it?),  all tied up in       the implication        that if Mann took seriously Cooper's promise not to go back out to       space again after this and Cooper broke it, there'd be no going back.

      So Cooper has stopped telling him that he won't go out there again.   He still thinks he       means it -   means it right now, at least, he knows that    - but he won't say it anymore.       It's hard enough to get Mann to accept this excursion as it is.        He leans against the       back flight chair, arms folding across his chest, lip pinched between his teeth.    Out of       nowhere,           he recalls that the last time he remembers getting into a lander, he had       ammonia burning up his lungs. 

      He says nothing of this.

           It's one of those days where  Cooper  feels tired no matter how much            he sleeps, which falls in line with his irregular sleeping anyway. If he's            not sleeping,      he won't put off conversation either,      stretches out            knuckles across the bed to nudge Mann in the ribs gently. 

                           "Need to tell you something." 

           He doesn't let the  silence  drag on like an oblivion or wait for Mann's            permission to continue or Mann's questioning.  He knows the anxiety            in that kind of silence,      the tension of not knowing what someone's            going to say. He rests the back of his fingers against Mann's ribs.
