The Self-Portrait Project will be in Haiti from Sept. 3 - Sept. 10
I am proud to announce that the Self-Portrait Project will be going to Haiti this Tuesday for one week, in a collaboration with the Pink Stone Foundation, international housing campaign Under Tents, and Haitian community activist organization FRAKKA.
We will be visiting some of the many post-earthquake encampments throughout the country, where over 300,000 internally displaced Haitian citizens still exist without access to clean running water or sanitary living conditions; violence is often rampant in these encampments, as security is virtually non-existent.
Working closely with Haitian community activists and others who are directly affected by the crisis, the hope is to use these Haitian Self-Portraits in advocacy campaigns to bring awareness to this very important housing rights issue in the Caribbean, and to apply pressure on international bodies in power to act on this information.
Stay tuned here on our Tumblr, our Facebook Page or our Twitter, as we will be posting updates & images from Haiti as circumstances allow.
