Whumpees team had left them behind, and once they get away from whumper they're still on their own for a while, so using their fire powers they have to close all their own wounds. It's painful and they pass out more then once just to wake and start again, but in the end it's better because they aren't bleeding out.

dropping in briefly to apologize for being so behind on my inbox and with posting the new chapter -- my husband lost his job very unexpectedly and I am picking up lots and lots of freelance work to keep us afloat while he looks for a new one. I am not gone! Merely detained!

Hopping on Tumblr quickly to issue a mea culpa: my health has taken a nosedive and I haven’t made enough progress on TGB to post the new chapter tomorrow as promised.
The good news: I had the first round of what will probably be regular IV iron infusions/B12 injections last week and will be getting the second round tomorrow! Fingers crossed this will haul my hemoglobin levels over a 9, as I am pretty useless right now.
One of the shittiest things about chronic illness is that it comes for the stuff you actually love doing. I am so sorry for not delivering the new chapter on time, and for falling behind on messages/thanking folks for their KoFi donations.
