(This is a gen fic idea that I would be interested in start writing if this gets enough attention - idk how good it is and it probably needs polishing but hopefully you guys get the idea ^^)
Self-Aware Dispatch AU but you're in the game and you're the one Self-Aware. It's fine though, as far as you could tell you were just a side character, a character that passes by some scenes here and there. You weren't in the spotlight to whoever playing, no attention is drawn to you.
Until...
the Z-Squad meets you, you're not sure how or like why. You're meant to be a side character. From what you can tell the "game" is finished and players only follow that Robert guy around, so sure, the team can do whatever they want now but surely there's other people they hang around with right? You're meant to be a side character.
You're not even sure if they're aware, you just know that one day you were walking around in the park and then a random portal appears and out comes the demon girl herself, her friend Sonar hot on her tail and now they're both talking to you.
Okay, okay that's fine. They seem...sociable enough to want to talk to someone and since the game is finished they're no longer tied to code. That's fine.
But then the other characters start popping up, Prism and Flambae waving you over when you come out the shop and now you have their number.
Nearly cutting cut by one of Coupes blade and herself and Punch-Up running up to check on you. Now you have dinner planned with them as a sorry next week. You're not even sure how that happened, you even said it was fine. I mean a villain was passing by so you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Then Invisgal scaring you as you try to pet a cat, laughing and now she's acting like you've been friends with her since forever. She introduces you to Golem who ever so gently shakes your hand.
Blonde Blazer noticing you when she's being interviewed in public and she waves and smiles. Now people are speculating on the internet on who's got her attention.
Phenomaman asking you about human customs...despite being friends or at the very least team mates with mainly humans.
Waterboy bumping into you and apologising and looking away. At least that makes sense from what you saw of him, but with everything happening you can't help but wonder.
Even the dispatcher himself is at your door (how'd he even find you??), apologising for his teams actions. And now you know why these people have started becoming interested in you. They're aware as well, they know they're in game.
And because Robert always hears what the player says, he can't help but catch them complimenting that "random character in the background"
The more he hears that, the more he realises it's you the player is talking about. What's making the player so interested in you? You've made them more interested in you than any of them, so when he tells the team, they're also interested and it's only peaked when they find out you also know you're in a game.
So now you have all the contacts of the Z-Team and Blonde Blazer herself. Now you're more in their life and you wonder how this will work if the game you seem to be in comes out with new seasons.
