For the WIP game, could we get some Sonic needs a nap? ๐๐คฒ
Sonic does still need a nap! But sadly there's no sleep for this werehog...
Tails wrenched himself free from the soldierโs grasp and darted forward, placing himself between his big brother and the firing squadโs guns. Small as he was compared to the werehog, Tails stretched out his arms as far as they could go, stance wide and tails unfurled in order to take up as much space as possible. Protect him as much as he was able. โNoโฆโ Sonic wheezed. โHold your fire!โ The commanding officer ordered as his trigger happy recruits flinched from the fox kitโs sudden movement. โOut of the way, kid! Stand down!โ โIf youโre going to shoot him, then youโre gonna have to go through me first!โ Tails bellowed. โWhat the hellโs wrong with you?โ a panicked soldier shouted, arms quivering as he attempted to aim at the beast behind the child. โEasy, solider!โ The commander held up a hand to steady the squadron. โI said hold your fire!โ โHeโs protecting one of those monsters!โ โShut up! Heโs not a monster!โ Tails spat, glaring daggers at him and anyone who dared to agree with him. โIf you had an iota of intelligence youโd be able to see that he hasnโt hurt anybody!โ โIt charged at us!โ Another one of the soldiers cried out. โIt tried to attack!โ โHe wasnโt going to hurt you!โ Tails argued. โHe was just coming back for me! Heโs trying to help all of you and you shot him!โ โIโm not going to ask you again, kid. Stand down!โ the commanding officer demanded once more. Tails straightened his shoulders and lifted his chin mutinously, refusing to move a single inch otherwise. He could hear Sonicโs pained breathing behind him as his body tried to heal, but depending on how cleanly the bullet pierced him, it might take too long for him to regenerate. Besides, even with Tails in the way, Sonic was bigger in this form. If he moved, it was all too likely that theyโd just hit him again if they figured out how to aim. Even Tails doubted that Dark Gaiaโs regenerative energy could bring his big brother back from a head shot. Or if they riddled his body full of holes like a piece of cheese. There had to be some kind of limit. And Tails didnโt want to test where that was this time around. Gaze rapidly flicking to his wrist comm, Tails contemplated the risk of moving. Heโd been working on a defense mechanism in his spare time, the prototype built into his comm. The idea was it would generate a temporary electromagnetic field that was tight enough to act as a shield and repel projectiles aimed their way. If he could activate it, it could buy them enough time to escape without worrying about being shot at. That is, if the shield even worked. It was still in development after all. He hadnโt even moved onto field testing it yet. But it was worth a shot.
You sure about that, Tails? You sure it's worth a shot?
