twenty minutes had gone by in a blur as he found himself relentlessly sifting through the racks, the near silent nature of the store making it easy to lose track of time. was he about to buy an insanely overpriced leather jacket? probably, but with how warm new york had been lately, his coat felt a bit like overkill. tris started to carelessly flop the jacket over his solider when he felt something --- someone, run into his legs. “oh, hi,” he laughed, kneeling to get eye level with the toddler, “are you playing hide and seek?” there was a brief moment of silence, a minor hesitation from the little girl until she answered, a bright grin on her face as she told him no. “then where’s your mommy? she has to be looking for you.” there was a giggle as she shook her head no again, tristan quirking a brow at her in response.
“she’s looking at the balenciaga. i like your coat.” though the words were mumbled and slightly mispronounced he got the gist, a chuckle escaping him. only on the upper west side would a little kid know her designers.
“thank you, i should hire you as my personal shopper ---- and how about i take you back to her, okay?” another nod as he takes her hand and started to head over to the other side of this unnecessarily massive store. “hey,” he said looking down at her, “what’s your name?”
a voice to his left quickly grabbed his attention, and he found himself chuckling again as the little girl ran off towards who he assumed was her older sister. “she wanted to look at men’s coats apparently,” he explained, offering the brunette a small smile, “i guess she’s got a future in fashion.”
