But if Sae just wants to be quiet and sit here in companionable silence, Ranze won’t be the one to break it. Especially because it doesn’t feel tense. Doesn’t feel like he’s uncomfortable, or the whole thing is awkward, or Sae’s just waiting for Ranze to say something. It’s actually kind of a nice break.

"I told you, we don't do that here," Sae gets out, voice icy. The guy huffs out a breath, more amusement than annoyance. "Regular ink, don'tcha worry," he says, grin widening again.

It's rare enough for someone with only one wing to show up at a divine tattoo parlor, but rarer still that all they want is a normal tattoo. Sae obviously intends to treat him like any other client, but Karasu seems to have a way of slipping past his defenses.
