Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Here are some of the initial drawings I did for my animated short Seisiún, which is the story about how my grandparents immigrated from Ireland and met. I’m also including some of the polaroids and photographs I found of them and used as reference, as well as used in the end credits of the short. 

I interviewed my grandfather during this process, but sadly my grandmother died when I was 14 years old from Alzheimer’s, so I never got to hear her story. Possibly because of that, I’ve always been very interested in her. I’ve always been told that I’m a lot like her. 

I'm really excited to finally show you guys my honors thesis! I've been working on it all year, with pre-production starting my Spring 2016 semester, and drawing animation frames and editing the video together throughout the summer and Fall 2016 semester.

Tom: Can you play Otter's Holt? Have you SEEN an Otter's Holt?

Dad: They're right down by the waterline.

Tom: But have you SEEN one?

Me: No. I saw a mink running by the waterline, once! Like this! *gestures crazily*

Tom: A MINK, really? Did it have a pricetag?

Seisiun in general: Shades! You're back!

Laurie: YAY! WE HAVE A LEAD FIDDLE AGAIN! It's such a relief!

Me: Oh, Laurie, I'm sure you stepped up!

Laurie: Oh, I stepped everywhere. On everything.

Laurie: Up. In. Out. Left. Right.

Me: You played the hokey pokey?
