Week 8
Post Production
This week we picked up straight where we left off from the previous week and jumped into the C24 to complete the ADR sessions for the post production project. Jayden stepped up to the challenge of recording the lines for Mr Sulu. We ended up recording in the C24 itself, and with a few run through’s of each phrase Jayden was able to pick this up in no time. Jayden ended up doing a great job of the ADR, which marked the final session for our ADR recording. Over the course of this project we have been fortunate enough to have a number of voice actors participate in our project, so the feeling of getting this part of the project done has been great and I am extremely excited to see how it all turns out.
On top of this we have each individually continued working on our sound design and have been ironing out some of the kinks that we have uncovered in the score. For example, after hearing the score and matching it with the video we realised there was a part where the mood changes from a seemingly epic struggle to a moment of hope and relief. Rob, Jayden and I all agreed that we may be able to strengthen the score if we gave Fred some constructive criticism in order to change the mood of the score. We each suggested that because it was going to be difficult to change the mood so suddenly in the score, it would be the best to fade out the score entirely to just sound design, and then fade it in with the different tone.
Artist Media Profile
After our efforts last week and the disappointment we shared with the Artist Media Profile project, we were feeling very disheartened and unmotivated to get back into the studio. With that being said, Rob has been continuing to place hold drums in Stacey’s track to try and achieve the sound she requested from us last week. Jayden, Rob and I have been discussing the track with one another and the game plan from here onwards. We feel that it may be better for Rob to lead Stacey in producing the track and maybe strip back the studio sessions from being so crowded, perhaps adding some pressure and stress on the artist. Again, we spent the week in and out of contact with Stacey trying to get prepared for next week’s session. We hope to push next week further and get this DONE!
