Americans In Paris
My last post about Paris. Â The rest of these pics are from the second half of my 24 hour trip to Paris. Â
After eating lunch, Turtel and I walked through the Louvre then made our way towards the Eiffel Tower. Â Now, from the Louvre, you can kind of see the tip of the tower in the distant. Â it doesn't look very far but if you aren't the best walker or are on a time crunch - I would suggest not walking to the Tower from the Louvre. Â It took way longer than we thought but it was really nice to look around the neighborhoods on the way. Â Once we got to the tower, the SELFIES ensued. Â Trying to take an attractive selfie of you and the Eiffel Tower is NOT easy. Â I saw about 7 "Selfie Sticks" while there and it was the ONLY time I'll admit that I wish I had one :) Â
After the selfie extravaganza happened, we picked up a few macaroons and headed back to the hotel. Â We rested for a bit then got ready to go to the theatre. Â
An American In Paris
... is the show we went to see. Â They had their out of town try out in Paris and will be opening on Broadway March 13th, 2015 at the Palace Theatre. Â Now, the first thing I HAVE to say is that this show is STUNNING! Â I'm the biggest fan already. Â I can't wait for NY to experience this insanely beautiful show. Â Turtel and I both have some friends and people we knew in the show, so that was exciting as well. Â Not every cast member, but most are Americans (which is fitting, I guess). Â We arrived early to collect our tickets at the beautiful Theatre du Chatelet. Â This stunning palace of a theatre seats 2,500 people and was built from 1860-1862. Â From what I've read, it was originally used for just dramas. Â The first show that went into the theatre was a stage version of "Around The World In Eighty Days". Â The show performed 2,195 performances over the course of 64 years and ended in 1940 from the Nazi Occupation of Paris. Â The pictures of this theatre do not give it justice at all. Â It's probably THE most beautiful theatre I've ever sat in and had incredible acoustics!
The show itself was just perfect. Â We saw their 3rd preview and although I know work has gone into it to make it even better, I absolutely LOVED it. Â NY is seriously in for a treat. Â The list of names attached to this project that made it so beautiful is very lengthly. Â The performances are just incredible. Â The two leads, Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope are true stars, along with Brandon Uranowitz, Max Von Essen and the entire cast. Â These dancers are DANCING and dancing for almost 3 hours straight. Â Then to top it off, they SING! Â It's old school musical theatre at it's best with a very creative and modern twist, with set design and choreography. Â Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs beautifully, these insanely talented performers, who are singing and dancing to the timeless songs of George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin - it's a perfect and romantic night out at the theatre. Â This show SHOULD NOT BE MISSED if you are in NY. Â Check out their website HERE.
More fun pics and stories to come! Â
