No till is the better way to farm. No if’s ands or buts about it. But sometimes expediency is needed and sheet mulching alone takes too long. I at least only broke the surface just to get the grass out, tossed it all back in to wilt, covered with compost, and will layer with straw heavily to hopefully keep any grass that may have survived down. Then wood chips to surround the beds. This was originally part of an area planned for a willow patch for basket weaving and crafts/art and floral design. But for now it’s contracted too beans. Can’t say that it took me long to figure out growing seed for a large seed company isn’t really what I prefer either....
