Unraveling a Disturbing Plot: Woman Arrested for Bomb-Making Scheme in Uttar Pradesh
In a chilling turn of events, authorities in Uttar Pradesh have apprehended a woman suspected of orchestrating a disturbing plot involving the creation of time bombs using glass bottles. The arrest unfolded following the detainment of a man, tasked by the woman to fabricate these improvised explosive devices (IEDs), by the Special Task Force (STF).
According to STF officials, the detained man, identified as Javed, was intercepted en route to delivering the bombs to the woman. Shockingly, he disclosed that he had been contracted by the woman, who remains unnamed, and was promised a significant sum of Rs 10,000 upfront, with an additional Rs 40,000 upon successful delivery of the bombs.
The modus operandi involved the concoction of lethal explosives comprising gunpowder, iron pellets, cotton, and Plaster of Paris, ingeniously housed within glass bottles. Javed's resourcefulness in sourcing materials, including glucose bottles and iron pellets from local establishments, sheds light on the meticulous planning behind the scheme.
It is revealed that Javed's expertise in bomb-making was largely self-taught, drawing inspiration from his uncle, a firecracker manufacturer, and leveraging online resources such as YouTube and the internet for guidance. The utilization of commonplace items like watches further underscores the sinister simplicity of the devices.
The woman's motives, as disclosed to officials, trace back to the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in 2013, which resulted in the destruction of her home. Fearing a resurgence of violence, she purportedly sought to arm herself with these explosives as a means of defense and deterrence.
Disturbingly, the woman admitted to having previously harbored similar bombs at her residence, indicating a premeditated intent to resort to extreme measures in the face of perceived threats.
The apprehension of the woman and the man involved underscores the vigilance and swift action of law enforcement agencies in thwarting potential acts of terror and violence. However, it also serves as a stark reminder of the persistent challenges posed by radicalization and extremism within society.
As investigations continue to unravel the intricate details of this alarming plot, authorities remain vigilant in safeguarding communities against threats to public safety and security.

South West Speakers meet over insecurity in the region
The Conference of Speakers in the South West Zone on Friday night held its maiden meeting in Lagos to proffer lasting solutions to the lingering security threat confronting the region. The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, in his address of welcome as the chief host highlighted issues affecting security in the region. Obasa said: “We are gathered here today to deliberate on South West economic and socio-political integration for progress. “We know the problems confronting us as a region which includes kidnapping, theft, arson and herdsmen attacks on our people. “It has reached an alarming height and we need to beef up our internal security; all stakeholders in the region should collaborate to find lasting solutions to the hydra-headed security problems confronting us.” Obasa, who is also the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, noted that the idea to establish special security offices across the region was also in the pipeline. He urged the local, state and the Federal Government to work assiduously to stem the threat to peace. Obasa also urged the Federal Government to be proactive in protecting Nigerians in South Africa against xenophobic attacks. There should be speedy action to halt this sad development, we condemn xenophobic attacks in its entirety and we urge our citizens to give peace a chance. “Nigerians should not result to vandalisation of their investments in Nigeria in retaliation to South African xenophobia,” he said. The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of South West State Legislatures, Mr Bamidele Oleyelogun, called on political stakeholders in the region to promote even development. “We want peace and unity in South Western states and we had robust debate on what is to be done to move our zone forward,” he said. Oleyelogun, who is also the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, said the South-West Speakers would return to their states to discuss with their governors and stakeholders on the way forward. On how to fund the proposed special security offices across the region, he said that the governors were ready to support security issues affecting their states. Those present at the meeting were Speakers of Ogun, Mr Olakunle Oluomo and Mr Adebo Ogundoyin of Oyo State. Others were Mr Funminiyi Afuye of Ekiti, Mr Timothy Owoeye of Osun as well as principal officers of some state assemblies. Read the full article
