How to make it harder for porn-bots to take over your account
As you may have seen, porn bots are hijacking peopleâs accounts and uploading photos of random girls with links underneath them.
It might not bring the ultimate eradication of these bots, but with these small security setting tweaks, we can at least make some difference.
Since Tumblr does not have a default e-mail verification system, anyone can change your account details as long as they know how to log in. Letâs make that a bit harder for them, shall we?
- In your Tumblr account settings, you will see 2 security options: âEmail me about account activityâ and âTwo-factor authenticationâ.
- Enable âTwo-factor authenticationâ. This will show you a QR code.
- If you donât already have the Authenticator app, download it from the Google or Apple store (itâs published by Google) on your smartphone. It looks like this:
- Add a new key, scan the barcode provided by Tumblr and a code will appear in your list. This is your âAccount Passwordâ. Enter it and Tumblr will remember that your current device is a verified, safe system.Â
Now, if anyone tries to log in on a new device, they will need to enter an Account Password.
