WASHINGTON | As shutdown looms, Trump and GOP leaders discuss border wall

WASHINGTON — With a partial government shutdown possible in just 10 days, President Donald Trump met with Republican leaders to hash out a spending plan that includes funding for Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico.

Trump is seeking $5 billion for the wall, a centerpiece of his 2016 campaign, and is ratcheting up pressure on Congress to provide it.

President Trump said he would deploy the military to guard our southern border.

This news may have helped Mexico take action and halt a caravan of thousands marching north toward America to claim free stuff. Sure, there are probably good people in the band of ‘migrants’ and ‘refugees,’ but entering our country illegally would still make each and every one of them criminals.

Trump amended his plan and changed ‘military’ to ‘national guard.’ The U.S. military is more or less prevented by law from engaging in domestic law enforcement functions such as border control, but Congress does nothing to increase border agents. The traitor Obama actually ordered them to ’stand down.’

Of all the president’s promises, building a wall across our southern border became his cornerstone. Some progress has been made, and he’s willing to keep pushing Congress to take some sort of action. Certainly the left will do nothing. Pelosi and Schumer want millions more to come in and vote for Democrats. They will vote for free stuff and support leftist agendas such as gun control. Many rich Republicans want the continued influx of cheap, if illegal labor. They have a short term, greed-based view.

A constant and vast influx of illegals will have their own language and culture and they see no reason to assimilate. The left proclaims learning English to be a racist notion. There’s no penalty and plenty of free stuff. They come here as scofflaws—the border is a joke. They easily get driver licenses from sanctuary cities and states. They drive without insurance. They steal social security numbers and identities of Americans. Any illegals who get apprehended are soon freed. Illegal alien criminals don’t show up for their mandatory court appearances. Free medical care, welfare, and education continue to attract illegals. They vote illegally for Democrats. They loudly demand amnesty. Reagan granted amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. The result is we got many millions more. Sanctuary cities and states protect them while real citizens (the patsy taxpayers) have to follow the law while picking up the tab for the lawless.

It’s time to get going on that wall.

WASHINGTON |April 3, 2018 (AP)(STL.News)  President Donald Trump wants to use the military to secure the U.S.-Mexico border until his “big, beautiful wall” is erected.

He said during a news conference Tuesday: “Until we can have a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military.”

He has been frustrated by the lack of progress on fulfilling the signature promise of his campaign.

Federal law prohibits the use of active-duty service members for law enforcement inside the U.S., unless specifically authorized by Congress. But over the past 12 years, presidents have twice sent National Guard troops to the border to bolster security and assist with surveillance and other support.

The administration appears to be considering a model similar to a 2006 operation deployed by President George W. Bush.
