Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? 

Argost had several brothers, but they were all significantly older than him. He never got to know them, because they left the family long before he was born.

Which one are they closest with?

He was closest with his mother, as she was the only family member that played a significant part in his life.

What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?

Distant, like all of his other relationships. She was a hard and stern woman, but she had to be to survive in the harsh Himalayan climate. She did her best to take care of her son, even risking her life killing livestock to make sure he was fed. Still, they often went hungry.

What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

Argost hardly knew his father. He passed away when Vincent was very young from an illness, probably brought on by a weakened immune system.

Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them?

 Argost was a young child during the annexation of Tibet by China and the subsequent uprising. Warfare, bombings, and extreme famine made life extremely difficult for his family. This culminated in the death of both of his parents. First, he watched his father waste away from what was probably an easily treatable illness. He has a very vivid memory of his father’s corpse lying on the floor of their cave. Second, he saw his mother get shot by a farmer while hunting livestock during a particularly bad bought of famine.

I don’t think he realizes it, but these extreme events probably explain why he’s so obsessed with power and control. He wants to live in wealth and luxury so that he never has to be in the gutter again.
