"i heard what your mother said and, uh, no, you don't have to wear a pink dress for the wedding," basil said weakly, wondering if maybe, it would have been smarter to just elope. alexandra would have understood, certainly, as she had met his mother. "it's still my wedding ... and i want everyone to be comfortable." (vf)

EYES locked onto her cousin, laelia couldnāt help but feel the beginnings of sympathy. weddings seemed stressful. she was so never getting married. but sheād certainly have to attend quite a few, with all the people in the family.
( maybe not though, come to think of it. she wasnāt sure how many of the irvine-rosenĀ clan would be able to find someone crazy enough to sign up. )Ā
PLACATED by basilās words, laelia pretended to be more relieved than she was. in truth, if it had come to it, she would have simply ruined whatever dress her mother put her in minutes before they had to attend & worn her own. she could acknowledge that basil was making a nice gesture, ācool, thanks. Iāll be sure to dress as comfortableĀ as possibleā but that didnāt mean she wasnāt going to tease him, just a little.Ā
