Hey everyone! I got to work on this amazing print for Black Dragon Press and here are some photos of the printing process. “Leemure” is an 8″x10″ intaglio-type printed here in Philadelphia at Second State Press. I had help from Kate Vanvliet and Gwenn Kathryn over the two days of printing. ImagOn allows for an accurate translation of any digitized image. So I started with a digital scan of the original drawing by Stan Manoukian, translated that into a digital positive, exposed that to the ImagOn plate, developed and proofed. This work took about three months to complete and I’m thrilled its seeing the light of day. Head over to http://blackdragonpress.co.uk/ for more info on purchasing the edition.
Kid art inspo. You’re killing it, Seraphine.
Letterpress coaster I designed for Second State Press. So excited about this little guy!!!!
"Pink" Four-Color Silkscreen, 2013
First in a new series of prints. Each print has the product in it. So, I used pink oil moisturizer to basically make an oil stain for the first layer, then added the product to silkscreening inks for the subsequent layers.
I chose iconic black hair products for several reasons. Initially, I wanted to document everyday objects, that were specific to my experience. I have a certain nostalgia for these products because I no longer use them personally. Pushing this nostalgia, I experimented with using the products to create the prints, staining the paper with product and scent.
