“Ready to ‘Round the Horn’ Again,” Vancouver Sun. January 17, 1942. Page 9. ---- With 92 years of ‘youth’ behind him, Leonard Hornett, British Columbia’s oldest autoist took time off to celebrate his birthday today by driving ‘around the horn,’ as he calls it.
With a lusty jerk, Mr. Hornett gives the crank a final pull, while his wife, Mrs. Edna Hornett stands-by. Departing from their home, at 863 Adderley Street, North Vancouver, at 10:15 a.m., the couple drove across the Lions Gate Bridge to visit Mr. Hornett’s son, Leonard, of 1483 Parker Street. They returned home over the Second Narrows Bridge.
Neighbors and friends will attend a small birthday party at the Hornett home this evening.

Page 18. ----- THE reassembled 150-foot south span of Second Narrows bridge, damaged recently when struck by the freighter SS Losmar. was floated into position Friday afternoon. This picture was taken as the steel span was being towed into place by tugs. The bridge bascule is seen to the left. There was no ceremony as the structure, aided by the tide, was jockeyed into position. Only engineers in charge and several officials of the bridge company attended. Those in charge of the work state the bridge will be open to traffic at 7 a.m. Sunday.
