I love how France had to be special and do their own with SECAM, and the Soviets adopted it if only to spite West Germany and the bulk of evil capitalists in America and Europe (and maybe for legit technical reasons, because SECAM is apparently accidentally really good at maintaining broadcast signal integrity across vast stretches of empty tundra).
None of this has mattered since the early 2000s now; but if you ever end up with retro Soviet television hardware and it just doesn't work with anything, this is why.
