Remember an "easy" way to tell what a patterned chicken's e allele is, is by looking at the tail feathers. A (Birchen) bird will have a patterned tail while a eb (Brown) will not. So for example This a Silver Laced Sebright and she has a Birchen based color pattern notice how her tail and even some of her down is laced
This is a Silver Laced Wyandotte and her lacing is a Brown based color pattern. Notice how her tail feather tips and down are black and not laced like the sebright hen above
This works for most patterns EXCEPT autosomal barring (not sex linked barring) which you can still use to tell the roosters e allele but NOT the hens because the hens tail will be patterned regardless of her base
