Knowing that Billy was working for Woodes doesnโt surprise Silver. It doesnโt even phase him that he was still pretending to be loyal, he has played that fence many times as well. Honestly, a man with nothing left to live for would do the unspeakable, betray his long time captain. Itโs going to lead to bigger problems if they donโt nip this in the bud as soon as possible. Billy means to split him and Flint up, something that Billy must see as being possible. A shame, it really wasnโt. Not anymore, not when he has Jamesโs trust and he would see this to the end, at least, thatโs the intention. He wonโt lie to himself and say that he worries, where would this all lead in the end? Heโs not sure that he even wants to follow this war forever. It was tiresome, unfulfilling and not what he signed up for so long ago. โWe have a problem,โ he spoke in a hushed tone, his shoulder brushing against Flintโs arm as he turned and pressed his back against the wall.
They were alone for now, which gave Silver the opportunity to come up with a plan of action for what they should do about Billy. โI have it on good authority that Billy is giving Woodes information on what weโre up to.โ

The clock had just struck ten as the wooden doors of her office flung open and a young Mrs. Guthrie stepped out haughtily with her chin proudly raised, followed by the pensive Captain Hornigold. Right away, the smell of the tavern ascended into her nostrils. A foul fragrance of sweat and rum mixed into the dense Nassau air, oppressively warm during a midsummerโs night. Accompanied by the aging man, she walked towards the bar as a crowd of drunken men cleared the way for the girl to pass, carrying about herself a semblance of disdainful arrogance, clad in pirate fashion with a long-sleeved linen shirt tucked into a brown-and-white striped skirt, with her golden hair tied back in tresses and a set of keys dangling from the leather belt at her waist.
As they sat down, a barman immediately served them with drinks. Both toasted, celebrating a new deal. Barely had Eleanor taken the first gulp, her gaze landed on Mr. Scott as he approached her from across the room, his eyes heavy with secrecy. She shook Captain Hornigoldโs hand, saying goodbye, then waited.
Once Mr. Scott had reached her, she leaned forward curiously, so he could speak in a level that no one else would hear. The news he had come to share with her concerned the recent arrival of a well-spoken Englishman into the island, which was in itself enough cause for concern, and as he carried on with his description, Eleanor sought him around the tavern. It wasnโt hard to identify this stranger, even at first glance. A redheaded man, apparently not too tall, sat at a table in an inconspicuous corner across from Mr. Gates. By the looks of him, it was clear that he was no simpleton, with the persuasive posture he obtained during a conversation which Eleanor had decided to learn its content by any means necessary.
As chance would have it, only a moment after she caught the sight of the two of them, the older man rose from his seat and left the stranger with a handshake. With that, Eleanor darted across the room before he could think of leaving. Saying nothing, she invasively pulled the chair that had been occupied my Mr. Gates only seconds before and claimed it, crossing her arms widely over the table. โWho the fuck are you?โ, she asked him.
โ you want a better story . who wouldnโt ? โ

โItโs not just a story, James, itโs... itโs far, far more than that. I want to help these people, help Nassau. If no one hears about my part in it, I do not care as long as what should be done is done.ย โ

โ your hands are trembling. โ

Breathing in slowly, Thomas looked down at his hands to see that they were indeed trembling. He coughed slightly before breathing in slowly through his nose. Curling his fingers inwards and rubbing tips against palms before releasing his breath and looking up once more and towards James. Managing to bring a smile to his lips even though he was unsure as to how convincing it was.
โIโm alright. Probably nothing.โ
โ i did what i had to do. โ

โAnd what exactly is that, James?โ Thomas asked calmly, the slightest hint of a smile at the corner of his lips as he looked up and over at the other man from where he sat. The memory of James telling his father to leave his own dining table and house fresh in his mind. Thomas wasnโt sure if he would ever forget that moment and vowed to keep it tucked away for when he needed something to bring a smile to his face.
โWere you referring to sending my father away? Or returning what I offered after....?โ

Perhaps it was only him that could see through the lies, perhaps he was immune to the otherโs ability to make anything believable. Yet, Hal followed him, because...well, Flint is better than most pirate captains out there. Thus far, that is.ย โLuckily for you, thatโs not what I am here for.โ his hand that been clasped behind his back moves forward to reveal a bottle full of a liquid.ย โThis is supposed to be the best rum in the New World.โ he says, changing the pitch of his voice slightly to indicate he was quoting someone else.ย โAfter a somewhat successful day, care to open it and see if itโs true?โ
