This is a remarkable once in a lifetime camera that saw action in Vietnam. Sean Flynn (1941 – disappeared in 1970), son of Errol Flynn, was an American actor and freelance photojournalist best known for his coverage of the Vietnam War. His 1965 Leica M2 no. 1130008 with a 1966 Summilux 35mm/f1.4 lens no. 2166593, showing significant signs of wear due to the years of professional use in extreme conditions, had a short strap made from a parachute cord, with a steel ring from a hand grenade. The camera, kept by the Flynn's family, was auctioned in 2018 for 72,000 euros. The camera survived Vietnam, Cambodia, PNG, Indonesia, the 6-Day War in Israel and European travels. Flynn did not have this camera with him when he was captured in Cambodia, on April 6th, 1970 with fellow photographer Dana Stone, he used a Nikon then. Photo of Flynn with his M2 by David Greenway.
