Having money and influence is not enough to save Sean if the fact that he is an Empath is made public. Amplified, people with enhanced senses, are vilified as a whole and Empaths are the most detested among them. He needs to change that, and for that he will need help. But he is not sure Alex, a powerful Amplified, is the best choice for the task. Alex is not ashamed of his abilities and is vocal in his fight for Amplified's rights.
Sean has too many secrets and at first Alex vehemently disagrees with his methods. But as they work together, Alex starts to realize there might be more to Sean than he guessed. As he gets to know Sean better, Alex finds himself at unexpected risk: he might be falling for Sean.
But with the Amplified situation as it is, do they even have a chance to be together?

Havshee Fic- Cut The Strings- Part Two
Second part of my new fic: in which Alex and Hank are terrible at break ins and Sean is generally pissed.
I can't copy links on this laptop -.- but you can find the previous parts under the 'My Fics' section on my page.
"Is there any particular reason why you broke into my apartment?" Sean demands furiously, arm crossed firmly across his chest in the position he always used to adopt when Alex successfully pushed the buttons that made him see red. "If you've come to steal back the Beatles' records you can't have them. They're mine."
"Records?" Alex repeats in a dazed voice from the floor. His eyes are still unfocused, staring at a spot to the left of Sean instead of directly at him. He has his gloved hands protectively cradled against his ears, like he's afraid they might just drop off completely if he lets them go. "No, Sean...I don't... we didn't come here for some stupid records!"
Sean feels almost insulted. He probably would if he cared more, but he doesn't. His thoughts do catch on the 'we' though, and he looks down at Alex's accomplice who is slowly unfurling from the blue fluffy ball into something both feline and human. He's not really sure what to make of the sight, of the whole incident. Despite his flaws, Alex has never seemed like the type to break into an ex's apartment before.
"I told you we should have knocked on the door like civilised people," Alex's accomplice growls, his voice a deep rumble emitted from his chest. His yellow eyes narrow disapprogly in Alex's direction and, for some strange reason, Sean feels a surge of warmth for him. At least he seems to understand that it is not socially acceptable to barge into people's houses uninvited.
Alex's vision seems to clear because he manages to glare back at his accomplice perfectly, and a childish scowl starts to cloud over his face. "Hey, I said we should wait inside incase he didn't let us in. You're the one who grabbed him, Bozo."
An animalisitic growl erupts from his accomplice's mouth, and he bares his rather large canines menacingly. "It was a stupid plan."
Sean sighs. He picks up a book that had fallen to the floor in the struggle, one of Darwin's more scientific ones and sets a lamp straight on one of the small wooden side tables, turning it on when he's satisified. "Are you girls gonna keep arguing, or are you going to tell me what you're doing here?"
Both intruders look up at him, surprised, as it they had momentarily forgotten that they were in the middle of being caught breaking into someone's apartment. Alex holds Sean's gaze for only a few seconds before he glances away again, his posture hinting that he's reluctant to explain to Sean exactly what it is they are doing, sitting on Sean's cheap carpet.
"The professor sent us to collect you," Alex's friend tells him, scratching the back of his fur coated neck in an oddly nervous gesture. "He asked us to bring you and your roommate back with us, for your own protection."
"Our own protection?" Sean repeats dubiously. He looks to Alex for some sort of confirmation, but Alex is still turned away from him, his eyes pointedly fixed on a stack of magazines strew across the battered coffee table that Darwin bought off an old friend. "Why do we need protection?"
Alex's friends gives him a slow steady look, his yellow eyes unblinking, like sean should already know the answer. "You have...abilities, like us, and there are certain...people who are trying to recruit people like us, so they can use us to do, um, bad things."
"Eloquently put, Hank," Alex says sarcastically, still refusing to make eye contact with anything that isn't made of paper.
A part of Sean, the part that is fiercely protective of his identity and his safety, wants to fiercely deny that there is anything special about him. He has a job, an apartment, a flatmate, friends; he's normal. If it weren't for the fact that he's already used his abilities to fight off his amateur intruders he would probably never admit to them that he is different. Then again, he has a strange feeling that he can trust Hank. So instead of denying it, he simply nods his head.
"You never said you had abilities," Alex says accusingly. This time he's looking at Sean and his eyes are full of hurt an accusation.
Sean ignores the part of him that wants to reach out and touch Alex. He pushes it down. Instead he says, "You never told me you had any. Would it have made a difference?"
Something dark flickers on Alex's face and he breaks eye contact again, this time favouring to look down at his hands. "Maybe."
They settle into an awkward silence. Sean sets things right in the apartment, tidying the things that had fallen in the scuffle and pointedly ignores his unwelcome guests. He's not too enthusiastic about the idea of going anywhere Alex will be but he thinks of what Hank said, about needing protection, and he can feel discomfort settling in his stomach. The thought of being vulnerable to an unknown threat isn't something that Sean finds pleasant. Still, there are some things he needs to know, needs to prepare himself for, if he's going to follow Alex.
He pretends to be deeply immersed in reordering the books on the small shelf perched close to the door, moving them around so that they are categorised alphabetically, and says, "Is she going to be there?"
The infinitismal sound of Alex's breath hitching is enough of a confirmation. His knuckles turn white as they tightly clutch the book in his hand, the unfriendly spine digging into his palm. He casts a glance back at Alex's guilty expression and feels a wave of nausea rush over him. "You do realise what your asking of me?"
Alex nods once, but says nothing.
"Okay," Sean says, and if his voice has a hint of sadness in it then it's only because he liked this apartment. It has nothing to do with Alex. Nothing at all. "I'll pack my stuff, but I need to call Darwin first."
