I was wondering if you could help me figure out what the kittens of two different kinds of purebred cats would look like? Or at least point me in the right direction for how to figure that out? The mother is a seal point Birman and the father is a ruddy Somali cat. If you could help me that would be fantastic!
I can’t help much when it comes to traits beyond coat color and length -- such traits are really outside my area of expertise and you can probably make educated guesses about as good as those I’d make.
Ruddy is, for the record, just another name for brown ticked tabby. Since ticked tabby is dominant over all other agouti patterns and pointing is recessive, the kits will most likely all be brown ticked tabbies/ruddy. If the father carries solid, you’ll also have solid black kits. Those are really your only plausible options with these coat colors. If you really want solid grey and/or blue ticked tabby kits, those are also possible if less likely.
Since Somali and Birmans are both longhaired breeds, all the kits will be longhaired, but I can’t speak for/predict whether the kits coats will more resemble a Somali’s or a Birmans. Maybe one, maybe the other, maybe both, maybe something in-between.
