Hammerhead sharks are consummate predators that use their oddly shaped heads to improve their ability to find prey. This shark's distinctive head is designed for greater agility and panoramic vision, making the hammerhead a hunter to be reckoned with. Their wide-set eyes give them a better visual range than most other sharks. And by spreading their highly specialized sensory organs over their wide, mallet-shaped head, they can more thoroughly scan the ocean for food. Frequently found in our waters here from far offshore and near shorelines, they are often seen in mass summer migrations seeking cooler water. Most hammerhead species are fairly small and are considered harmless to humans. However, the great hammerhead's enormous size (no public records of being seen yet in the Maldives) and fierceness make it potentially dangerous, though few attacks have been recorded. Octopuses are one of the most sophisticated and intelligent animals in the ocean. They have blue blood, can change colors, and regrow their tentacles.🐙🐙🐙 An octopus can change the color of its entire body in just three-tenths of a second. But the creature doesn't simply take on the general pattern of its surroundings. Instead, it often mimics specific undersea objects, like plants or rocks, to disappear into the underwater scenery.🐙🐙🐙 A common octopus has about 240 suckers on each limb, and a particularly large sucker can hold up to 35 lbs.
