Was getting my friend to watch Soul Eater but she’s not familiar with anime tropes so I had to constantly annotate for her (tbh I’d be jarred by the style, amount of fan service (had to explain what that was 😔), and nosebleeds right off the bat, too).
We got to the Italy incident and she drops this gem:
“I like how this girl [Maka] is really like ‘hey, pal! we’re not here for tourism, we’re here for murder!’”
And, wow. Umm, bestie…outstanding summary. Props to her.
Also rewatching with someone else just reaffirmed that idk if I want to see this remade or want Ohkubo to do anything more with it. I much prefer what the fandom has built and continues to build from the source material. Correcting the bullshit, expanding the world, and cultivating the characters further either as they grow or through AUs.
