In The Beach Beasty, a thirty minute special, Uncle Sandy theorizes with the gang about who is responsible for the water monster that’s stealing jewels. He’s yells and moves about erratically. Scooby hugs Shaggy, staying between Shaggy and Uncle Sandy. This shows two tasks: deep pressure (the hug) which can help mitigate anxiety/panic, and keeping space (standing between the trigger and the person) which also creates feelings of safety, easing anxiety/panic.
Points off for Shaggy calling Uncle Sandy “Mr. Crazy Pants,” but I guess no one’s perfect. 🤦🏻♂️
Here, we have Shaggy’s PTSD being triggered and Scooby comforting him.
Then, though Shaggy tried to reality-check is anxiety, his fears were unfortunately confirmed. This is part of why recovery is so difficult. And demonstrates how microaggressions cause trauma.

Shaggy faints and Scooby takes care of him until he wakes up. Shaggy is disabled and Scooby is his service dog.
Scooby did his best to mitigate one of shaggy’s triggers. He put grease on a squeaky door hinge. It worked at first, but not for long. The important thing is that shaggy works on identifying and addressing his triggers and that service dog is just as flexible and attentive.

I’m going back and watching all the Scooby shows in order. I’m on season one episode five of where are you.
1) I think this is the first time we see shaggy eat a Scooby snack. 2) shaggy taking Scooby on a walk as a decoy for the dognappers is absolutely what it’s like taking a service dog out in public the first few (should I say five) times.
Shaggy tells Scooby to start walking and Scooby pulls on the leash “take it easy! Slow down!”
Scooby sees his reflection in a store window and models his fancy collar to himself. Shaggy says “Keep your mind on your work!” Shaggy starts walking again, but Scooby does not and shaggy is pulled over backwards.
Scooby sees another dog. Shaggy has to remind him to leave it be. As they walk by, shaggy says to Scooby, “keep going, keep going.”
The dog is mad Scooby didn’t stop to say hello. It runs ahead and knocks over a trash can. Shaggy leaps forward and deflects the trash away from Scooby and says “at least you don’t have to take another bath!” And boy if I haven’t swept my Daisy Doo out of the way of being splashed by a mud puddle with the same thought in mind.
First one hour long movie of Scooby doo is Scooby goes to Hollywood.
Shaggy, the disabled handler, noted that he and Scooby are not being treated equally to all the other stars in Hollywood. So he takes his service dog, Scooby doo, to a tv executive to demand what’s due him. The whole trip, Scooby is addressed before shaggy. People are pleasant when talking to Scooby but judgey when talking to shaggy.
This happens to handlers a lot. Talk to the person, not the dog. Also, people with disabilities are regularly paid less for their work. This movie proves, shaggy is disabled and Scooby is his service dog.
Idk if you’ve mentioned it, but in one episode, Shaggy passes out (from fear of drowning I think) and Scooby drags him away by his shirt, saving his life
