as much as medkit tries to ignore it, the date of the argument lingers in his head. every year, he pauses to breathe when glancing at the calendar and tenses up at the mention of the day. this month is definitely where his nightmares are far far worse than most other times of the year.

paranoia makes him double check everything. the voice in his head telling him that even the coffee scythe makes for him isn't safe. not that he cares when he feels scythe's gaze focused at the back of his head, the coffee sitting on the counter untouched.

scythe is aware. she doesn't seem to mind, mumbling about what a waste. a weird feeling clings at the back of her throat though.

she doesn't make his coffee until the month is over. he doesn't immediately take it for a few days.

when he does, medkit almost shakes to pick up the mug once again. he's been surviving off nothing but pre-packaged food, and it's been taking a toll on him, although he'd never admit it. the first sip is bitter and hot. almost burning down his throat. he doesn't care though, when he meets scythe's gaze again with a nod and a murmured thank you. she just flashes a smirk and says something about she's glad to have him back.

as she always has done since years ago.

this is routine. this is safe.

(you know why I haven't done a scythe centric one? because she has zero fucking lore and it's hard to portray my headcannoned lore for her)

medkit:

- the places he kisses the most are scythe's hands, specifically the mechanical one

- he isn't a big fan of physical touch so it's actually very rare for him to cuddle

- on the rare occasions he does, he's little spoon

- other occasions being he's drunk and he fell asleep next to scythe

- he also usually sleeps back to back with her(it's impressive to get on his bed and vice versa in the first place)

- his love languages are acts of service and quality time

- he also check up on her gear like a lot especially after missions

scythe:

- the place she kisses most is medkit's face. it's rare he lets her smother him but it does happen. most notably though, when medkit, on the very rare occasions he takes off his eye patch(or before going to sleep), scythe would kiss on the part above or next to it

- loves physical touch but is willing to tone it down for her partner

- usually big spoon and loves it when he lays his head on her lap

- she's the type to rest her head back when medkit rests his head on her shoulder

- likes it when he's drunk because that's when he's loosen up enough about physical touch

- love languages are physical touch and acts of service also

- as stated in a previous submission she generally checks up on him pretty often :3

they both kind of just melt when they're affectionate with each other. I hate them so much AAAAAA me when soft medkit and soft scythe. she just doesn't feel the need to perform(as she does in hq bc of father overseer), and he doesn't feel the need to be cautious. <33 mayhaps ooc but 🥺🥺🥺🥺

i imagine in canon when scythe meets dire situations, when everything but her gear is busted, she protects that shit with her LIFE. she knows the reason why her defense is so bad is because of her modified gear, but still. it was the only thing she was able to salvage from the fire. everyone be damned if this thing gets scratched (idk if inphernals can love after their gear breaks, I assume not).

and time and time again, in the years medkit has worked for the lost temple, he has done it. it's always nerve-wracking, to have the fate of his boss on the line, but he works the best under pressure. scythe was proof.

onesided scythekit the Other way where medkit likes scythe because scythe reminds her of subspace in a weird hatred way. medkit likes scythe because shes familiar to what shes always known

I freaking love this ship because even if you yaoify and yurify and yaourify it, you can't force their characters into either heteronormative masculine and feminine roles that most queer ships have without just heavily mischaracterizing them entirely.
