So I let slip that the monster I was looking for was a Scullking. That’s a pretty terrifying name, right? Especially for an early game monster. Makes me think of the Summoned Skull from Yu-Gi-Oh. So what does it look like?
DAWW.
IT DOES THIS TINY LITTLE “mrow” FOR IT’S CRY I CAN’T
My guys! None of them have Sand, though. But that’s okay, Sand isn’t a huge deal for the most part.
I pick Rizzo for this first race.
Round 1 results.
I sat there on the screen for the one after I got the exotic Poko for ages, debating whether it was worth keeping to not have to erase the new exotic from space-time. I ended up keeping it, but I don’t have all that much money, so I can’t do that a whole lot right now.
It’s interesting looking at some of these skills, because I later came to the conclusion that it was possible to get a different tier of the same skill from breeding, i.e., getting Turbo Level 1 by having one of the other Turbo Level 2 or 3 skills. I’m not entirely sure how true that is, I’ll have to examine the footage of the breeding that made me think that.
The result!
...huh. Note that having Water O and Water Star is redundant, since it’ll eventually hit that one anyway. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do about those ones, sadly.
I don’t have a lot of money, so it’s time to save scum this.
(also yes I saved that exotic capture)

I learned a lot about monster breeding during this playthrough.
A monster can have two 3* skills and three 2* skills, if I remember correctly. Things like Turbo Level 3 and the Terrain Star skills count as level 3, so you can’t have a monster with all five terrain skills maxed out.
I always like to play with a team that covers all five terrain types and all having Turbo Level 3, and any other skills are basically a bonus. Noodles started with Grass 3, and Skipper politely provided Turbo 3 and Water 3. Grass and Water are a good combo to have on one monster, as are Sand and Water. There’s one track in the game (that I remember) with Grass and Sand, but apart from those, the specific combos don’t matter all that much. So, one monster with Grass/Water, one with Sand/Water and one with Fire/Snow covers all of them. With the Turbo Level skills as well, at least one of those is going to have to settle for the Level 2 version of it. But that’s okay.
So to get the result of the breeding, we have to go and race ten times. So if we just go to the Star Plains and run around for a bit we’ll
NO
...dang, Skipper started this tournament at level 13. Whoo, levels!
Hooray! We won Oceania! :D
