Writing a movie script is a matter quite different from writing a play for theatre or a book. The very first thing one should consider is the tool he/she is willing to use.
I am quite a retrograde, and I wish old-school tools were still in use - a paper, a pen and your idea. However, nowadays, scriptwriting has many technical aspects to it. Therefore, let me tell you little bit about the platforms, commonly believed to be useful for scriptwriting, since one cannot nowadays simply send the script to the appropriate place (this will be one of the last steps we will certainly discuss) without appropriately formatting the script, no one, even if your story is an Oscar-winning one, will ever read the script. Thus, let me introduce these platforms:
This software is a classical one for writing a screenplay for writers from all over the world. This is the tool professionals normally use to submit a screenplay. Greatly and conveniently constructed, it allows you to feel like a professional - it does not only allow you to write the script without being distracted with the technical details (spacing, fonts, structure for dialogues etc.). However, I would suggest that since you are probably focusing, at first, on a spec script (your personal endeavor that you are not yet paid for), leave this software for later. I would say - it is a little too overwhelming for a debutante! And also it costs 300 dollars. However, once you decide to actually earn your living with scriptwriting this is the software to go with. Maybe, in few years! (Hopefully!)

This software is a slightly simple version of Final Draft. Although the advantage is that it has a trial period, and, thus, you can play with it and learn the basics for free for a month; I would also suggest that at this point it is a little too early to experiment with the professional tools. It comes in useful when you are ready to move on to the next professional step.
Ta-dam! This is the software we are going to work in. Well, I am! What is so great, to me, about this particular one? First of all, I am already familiar with the Adobe packages - Adobe Premier, Photoshop etc. Once you learn how to work within one of these frameworks, the others are also comprehensible.
Adobe Story literally works as a cloud, and thus, is accessible from any device, even when your laptop is out of reach, It has the same technical features as the previous two - it does the formatting automatically, which saves you plenty of energy and time - however, is absolutely free. Why? Well, you do not download the program, you work within the cloud, and, therefore, they do not charge you. It is also a great space for making connections within the industry, since many script-searchers are checking out the online platform for new writers.
Overall, Adobe Story is free (it is, after all, very important), easy to access, and has a potential to help in promoting your work further on
