by Al Baker | From time to time I have people ask me how I go about memorizing Scripture. These same people also have asked me to write about this topic. So here I go. First of all, I have found that memorizing Scripture...
Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:18-21

I have been reading the Bible lately trying to get closer to God. I've been baptized and I know Jesus is my savior I just have a hard time remembering what I read. I don't have a hard time actually reading and understanding it's just the process of remembering do you have any suggestions?
Hi friend,I’m so glad that you’ve been reading the Bible in order to grow closer to God! That’s so excellent. I definitely have some tips for memory work:1.) Underline, highlight, and/or write in the margins. I’m not sure if you’re already doing this or not (I realize some people are hesitant about writing in their Bibles), but it definitely helps you to engage fully with the text. 2.) Whether in your head or out loud (to yourself or a friend) or down on paper, summarize what you’ve read directly after you’ve read it. Instant recall. (I prefer paper and think that when we write things down we’re more like to remember them, but I realize this takes more time and some just don’t care for it.) If you manage this directly after you’ve read it, try to recall it again a few hours later, or the next day. This will help you build up your retention. 3.) Have you ever done Scripture memory? There are so many ways to do this, all of them great. You just have to find what works for you. Maybe, if anything, you could pick one verse from each chapter, or each book, that you read, and memorize that. This is such a great exercise for your brain, and if you’re able to do this, I have a feeling you’ll have a much easier time a few months from now when trying to recall summaries of chapters and/or books. Here’s a great video from Beth Moore on Scripture memory. She’s talking specifically about memorizing all of 2 Timothy (which, if you want, go for it), but the tips and tricks are still applicable. Does anyone else know of some good ways to help with/work on memory? All my love,S.

How did last week’s verse go? Was it a breeze or a bit of a brain twister like it was for me?

And when the arrogant rich are brought down to size, cheer! Prosperity is as short-lived as a wildflower, so don’t ever count on it. You know that as soon as the sun rises, pouring down its scorching heat, the flower withers. Its petals wilt and, before you know it, that beautiful face is a barren stem. Well, that’s a picture of the “prosperous life.” At the very moment everyone is looking on in admiration, it fades away to nothing. James 1:9-11 (MSG) ✨ Want to join the memory-making journey?
