Dagna: Novhen is first and foremost her sponsor. He thinks she's very weird (affectionate) and is proud of her. He looks forward to receiving the reports of her progress. She also sends him letters from her critics because she believes people deserve to know her flaws as well for eye-rolling material. Very much father-putting-report-cards-on-the-fridge energy here. Yes, she's barely any younger than him, but he's become a fatherish figure for people older than him, so this isn't too out of the ordinary for him. Maybe older brother energy?

Sera: Ohhh there is going to be so much friction between these two. He's very proud to come from the alienage and remembers her from when she was a kid, and as much as Sera would hate it, he would pity her for her internalized racism. He's trying to be patient with her because she was raised by a human and is only what– 18? 19? but Maker, does she make it hard for him sometimes

Cole: Novhen's nervous around Cole. Not for being a spirit necessarily but because he quickly notices that Cole's got a habit of crytpicly verbalizing others' thoughts. Those are private, thank you, please stop talking about ravens and wolves. This is all doubly true if we're talking about in the HoF at Skyhold AU where he's trying to keep his true identity on the DL

Isabela: They've only met once briefly before. They had sex and swapped fighting tips. She's cool 👍 He's a bit disappointed that she's not around to say hi when he stops through Kirkwall during the Act 2 finale, but it's for the best that she wasn't present for most of it

Merrill: Most of Novhen's knowledge of Merrill comes secondhand via his spies in Kirkwall (particularly Bodahn and Anders). He respects her intelligence and is very impressed by her feats wrt cleansing the eluvian. He's desperate to enlist her aid in researching a cure to the Taint, but i'm withholding judgment for now on how successful he is with that

🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing (finished a fic, actually planned for once, etc).

Uh, recently? Doing this meme so I'm forced to actually think about my writing while my fingers are on a keyboard instead of just daydreaming and then not writing it down. 😅

Before that, I did have a bit of a: time to restart now that I know where I'm going epiphany for one of my Shadowhunters WIPs, but uh. Then I didn't (as previously mentioned) write it down, so I'm not sure that counts. (whoops?)

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

I have a thing about my The Outer Worlds PC that keeps rattling around in my head, about the side-effects of the way she woke up, about the paranoia that builds after the first few times she tries to ask about the past, about her people, about how hard it is to try and hide who she was, especially since who she was doesn't exist any more.

But there's no actual story yet, just cold joints and a (mostly) quiet desperation.

🌝 Who is one character you haven’t yet written for that you would like to?

Just one? BUT see: the entirety of TOW? I haven't finished anything for it (yet?) and really like the crew in that game, they're great. (Parvati: Too good for this world! Vicar Max: Such An Asshole And I Love Him. Ellie! Felix! Nyoka! SAM & ADA! It's a good group, with some great inter-personal dynamics on top of being fun individually.)

For Shadowhunters I'd really like to write some Jonathan Morgenstern, because what they gave us in the show was not... what they said they were giving us, if that makes sense, and it is a really interesting dichotomy that I'd love to do something with some day.

What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

The first element I decided on for Hamal was that... he was going to be a disaster. That sounds unkind lol. But I really started his game as a casual playthrough, to make choices I wouldn't have otherwise, and just be chaotic in general. At this point I was not intending to develop him into a character, at all...

He was named for a star. Then the Mahariel origin stole my heart and Hamal took on a life of his own.

If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

He is rude, while also being very kind. And, he will not easily change who he is.

What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

His mother's clan did not have a say in his upbringing, and generally hold the view that Clan Sabrae kidnapped him from them, because his mother had intended to return to her clan following Keeper Mahariel's passing. This may develop into a story arc as I explore the idea more.

What is your favorite fact about your OC?

I have so much Hamal trivia omg.

He would usually zone out during Haren Paivel's history lessons. And he has a negative and dismissive view of the Chantry and humans in general. Which means when Alistair was talking to him about the Urn of Sacred Ashes, his reaction was kind of an amused, 'Alistair... you know Andraste wasn't real, right?'

The worst part is he refuses to listen to reason. Even Zevran tries to explain that Andraste was a historical figure, but is Hamal having any of it? Nope.

He opted to go to Orzammar first, because logically the ashes were a myth! While the Orzammar treaties? A statement of fact. Sten's sword? Also factual! I want to be very clear about this. When Hamal saw that the gates were closed and Sten’s sword wasn’t in the area, he left and hoped Orzammar would sort its shit out by the time they next stopped by.

Plan A (get Sten’s sword and get aid from Orzammar) had failed. That led to Plan B... go to Haven and hope for the best idk?

And when they finally got the ashes and Eamon was cured, after aaall of that, Hamal was just like...
