Bottle Giveaway #1: Valentine's Day: how are you spreading the love?
BOTTLE GIVEAWAY #1: What are you getting your loved ones for Valentine's Day? Share you answers and I will put them up on this post over the weekend/at night (I have a day job you know!). It can be flowers for mom or a magnum for my boyfriend. Doesn't matter. Anyone who shares an idea that gets at least three "likes" will be entered in the first bottle drawing. Again - you need to be local so you can either get the wine in the financial district or somewhere I can bike to on a sunny day and drink it with you.
Post your answers on the screwcap.co facebook page wall to enter!
Update: we have a winner, congratulations to Jesse H! We will share screwcap.co moment #2 out of 100 soon!
Here is a quick audio note that explains a little bit more about what I am hoping we can build together.
This is a group project, and I will do the absolute best I can to distribute any "goodies" that I am able to source for this group with one simple guiding principle: friendship and good times.
If you want admin rights to the facebook page please send an email to screwcap.co member "1 of ?" that includes HOW you will help/promote friendship and good times while combining screw cap wines early and often into your messages and content. This site is for us...we don't care who you are, what you do, what you look like or who you work for as long as you support our mantra and promise to stay positive.
Please include your proposed "screwcap.co member card" that includes you name, email address, desired member name and title. You will use your member name to sign your communications when you speak to the group - there is no screwcap.co without members, we are here to interact and converse as individuals, not companies, special interests or anything like that.
There can me many people who share the same function (anyone else want to be the VP of Customer Love, and Evangelist, a Listener, a Friend or even the CEO of screwcap.co? Go for it - but only if you mean it and act like it) You need an individual name. You can use your real name of something completely different to obscure your "real world" identity if you like.
unscrew one with me,
Cam Fortin Member Name: "1 of ?" Title: VP Customer Love Contact: screwcap.co member: 1 of ?

rogue camping
I am exhausted but happy. I had a little too much to drink on friday and felt pretty rough yesterday morning. at noon i couldn't resist the invitation to spend the afternoon in dolores park playing games, talking and drinking with friends in the sun. At some point my buddy thomas asked when I wanted to leave for our rogue camping trip. I thought - I didn't know that was in the cards for tonight? When did we decide to do that? Hmmm...sounds fun though. At 5 we were on our way to Marin, my favorite place in the world. Where would we go? I explore a lot, think Cam, think! Well, its going to be warm - like record high warm. We need overnight parking. We need something close to the car, but not too close. Woods? No, not tonight. We want a beach so we can play boy scouts and have a fire, explore and regain the balance needed to tackle another week in the fluorescent lit office I love but feel caged in by. Well, I remember this one time two years ago when my buddy Hiltz was in town and we hiked froum Muir beach to this thing called Pirate's Cove. A little place where a ravine meets a rocky beach and the angle of the cliffs shields you from the rest of humanity. A place to call your own for the night, but leave it as you left it the next day and hope another group of friends replicates the magic you experienced. This was my second tactical rogue camping trip, and after a year and a half hiatus it felt damn good when we rolled over the golden gate listening to an eric claptop version of little wing that set the scene perfectly. After a quick stop at subway (36" of subs) we headed up and over the ridge and dropped down to muir beach. We parked and hiked casually south for 1.2 miles. Along the way we saw flickering fires on muir beach, a breathtaking view of san francisco and some really choice succulents clinging to the cliffs. When we arrived at our temporary home the "santa anna winds" (in quotes because that's what I call a warm wind, but that might not be the right name) were in full force and we explored "pirate's cove", had a small beach fire and did a lot of star gazing. The whole night had a "southwest santa fe" vibe - a dying monocarpic agave had shot up its huge inflorescence, the cliffs were in silhouette and there were spiraling wispy clouds to compliment the otherwise crystal clear, light free night sky. the moon was in the shape of a cheshire cat smile as it turned red and "set" over the ocean around 9pm (I had never seen that before). the beach was rocky and when particularly strong waves pulled back the rocks tumbled against each other creating a peculiar and enthralling sound. we pitched a tent on a tiny grass plateau about 50 feet above the beach and left the rain flap off. it was impossible to sleep - the warm wind and slowly rotating star show was worth the bleary eyes. we packed up early, hit the dipsea cafe for an outdoor bite and I was back at my place by 9:30.
Screw Kappa Napa
Though I'm still not sure if the name is a dig at sorority girls in the valley, this wine is the bomb. Let's be serious, the best part about screw caps is how portable they make wine. I've taken the Sauv Blanc to the beach and the Cab on more than one hike. The glass might be heavy, but the luscious red fruits at sunset is worth it. Even Food & Wine hearts SKN!
