Jensen said that he hated season 6 because Jared was not Sam and it was very difficult for him to portray Dean. Is it normal that your performance depends so much on your acting partner?
Well, yes.....mostly......kind of..... it’s complicated.
There’s a reason why there are chemistry auditions. Half the reason why Kylo Ren was such a hit with the audience is his chemistry with Rey. Adam Driver is a very good actor but it was his scene partner Daisy Ridley that made him especially memorable. People still talk about Leonardo diCaprio and Kate Winslet’s performance on Titanic 20 years later because their chemistry rose above the cheesy dialogue and soundtrack. Leonardo had many beautiful scene partners but he doesn’t have chemistry with most of them, so I tend to forget that the actresses worked in DiCaprio’s movies.
Jensen said it was difficult working opposite of Jared when he’s not Sam because he couldn’t rely on the same methods that worked so well for him for the past 5 years. Uh-huh, how about since 1997. What worked on Supernatural with Sam as Dean’s partner didn’t work on Smallville with Lana as Jason’s partner. It wasn’t until Sam was re-souled and the classic SamnDean chemistry re-established in second half of season 6 that I realized I don’t remember much of what Dean did during first half of the season other than the dreaded Lisa/Ben arc and “fight the fairies!”. Yet everybody seems to remember soulless Sam.
Gilbert Roland and Norma Talmadge
Gilbert Roland and Norma Talmadge starred in several films together, notably silent era hits like Camille (1926), The Dove (1927), The Woman Disputed (1928, her last silent), and the early talkie New York Nights (1929).
Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen through the years. On the left, we see them in 1945 when she made her debut in Wonder Man and on the right when the two appeared together in the 1954 film, White Christmas.

The Awful Truth, 1937
The Awful Truth is a 1937 American screwball comedy film directed by Leo McCarey and starring Irene Dunne and Cary Grant.
The film was a box office hit. It was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. McCarey won for Best Director. The Awful Truth was selected in 1996 for preservation in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry.
The Awful Truth was the first of three film pairings co-starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, followed by My Favorite Wife (1940) and Penny Serenade (1941).
Gross box office receipts for The Awful Truth were more than $3 million ($57 million in 2021 dollars). The film made a profit of $500,000 ($9.4 million in 2021 dollars) in a year when Columbia Pictures' studio-wide profit margin was just $1.3 million ($24.5 million in 2021 dollars)
Although he was not nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor, the film was a triumph for Cary Grant. Overnight he was transformed into an A-list leading man."The Cary Grant Persona" was fully established by this film, and Grant not only became an able improviser but often demanded improvisation in his films thereafter.

Jensen and a superhero costume again. Looks like he is trying for something very specific after SPN. I whish he tried for a drama role where he would excel in but maybe he just really likes scifi action genre. At the moment, he seems more at risk of having the same fate as DiCaprio character in once upon a time in Hollywood.
Sci Fi genre is where the money currently is at instead of residuals, which is quickly disappearing thanks to New Media and traditional studios always finding creative ways to undercut salaries. Jensen has made enough money for 3 lifetimes, so he doesn't need the money but men needs to work in order to feel valued. Part of being a good husband is accept the responsibility of finding and if possible keeping a decent job. Men cannot give birth and husbands are usually not chosen for their looks, marriages are happier if the men are working.
The best SciFi books and movies are drama, not actioners. This shouldn't surprise because if you think about it, drama is really much better suited for "space" exploration. People tend to forget that it's not just about outer space but very much also about inner space. It's way more interesting to see how changes in science and technology can impact individuals and society and this is not something you can really show off through explosions and high speed chases. This may be in part why Hollywood warm up to SciFi dramas in the past ten years like The Arrival, Moon, Her, Another Earth, and Melancholia.
Jensen has an excellent acting partner in Jared, but there's no guarantee that the writing or casting will find him another compelling acting partner. Chris Cardeans finally won the National Forensics League duo interpretation on his fourth and last try when he was partnered with Jared. Jensen may have better luck in an ensemble cast where his natural scene stealing talent can snag him a spotlight and help him stand out among the cast.
